39BuickEight
We were sandblasting the wheels for my car yesterday and realized 2 or 3 may not be roadworthy. I am hoping someone can tell me what years/makes used the same 16" wheels as my 1939 Special.

Glassesguy
My info is from 1928-1941 Chassis Parts Manual. Canadian built Buick Specials used different wheels from US built. Possibly Australian ones as well? In the US 1938 hubcaps were different from 1939-1940 but wheels were the same.
Guest Grant Magrath
I've used 38 Special wheels on our 39 Special with no problems at all. I'll have to have a look and see what the difference is. It's certainly not that they don't fit!CheersGrant
danhar1960
I would have to concur with Dave on this one. According to the book '38,'39',40 series 40 are the same part number. I just put a '38 rim and a '39 rim side by side and I can see no difference and the hubcaps do interchange.Danny

39BuickEight
Did any Chevrolets/Pontiacs/etc use the same wheels, or only Buicks?
Barney Eaton
Let me ask the wheel question in a different way..... my '39 has a 5 inch bolt circle and it appears Buick used this for many years. However the center hub hole diameter seemed to change...... I believe big cars had larger center holes. If we disregard any differences for hub cap mounting, what years were the same?I am thinking of a second set of tires and rims for my car.... some late model rims with radial tires for driving/touring and the stock wheels and tires for shows. What are the suggestions for the touring rims?
Ben Bruce aka First Born
Barney, perhaps Bill would 'loan' his woody spare for a trial fit?? Ben
Mark Shaw
The best man on planet Earth for late '30s Buick parts is Dave Tacheny. Believe it! Mail your want list to him at 11949 Oregon Ave. N., Champlin, MN 55316, or call 612-427-3460.
