  1. Thanks. A lot of details look like my 30 Chrysler CJ-6. What color is your engine. A lot of discussion on the color of Chrysler, Dodge, Desoto engine colors. Is that the original color of the Engine?? Sorry. I don't have any extra parts. Just spare, complete headlights. Wish I had 2 mint rear fenders. Bill Harmatuk
  2. I'll tell you a story from 1989 when I have time. 1959 convertible.....Running, one owner, wonder bar radio, continental kit, power everything, Black with white interior, with red inserts..... 348, 3 deuces, automatic, 2,500 DOLLARS. One of my "damn it" stories. Still haunts me. A day late and a dollar short. Wife was pregnant. Bill H
  3. 32 - 35 Dodge , Desoto, Chrysler. Just a guess, with the rear axle, front axle, springs and motor, intake & exhaust. Worth saving for parts. Bill H.
  4. I'll give you 200.00 for all the door handles and window cranks. Just kidding but I would go higher on the handles. I have a 4 Dr. CJ in the throws, ( a particular state or condition ), of restoration. Body off. Nice car but with out pictures, we can't tell if you are pricing it correctly. Good luck. I would love to have a twin. My car came from New Jersey in the 70's. Bill H
  5. Looks exactly like the shifter I have, from a 65 Chevelle SS, that came from the factory with a Muncie 4 speed. Might want to check to see if it is the same shifter. I don't want to get rid of mine. If I could find it, I would unscrew the nob and get you a picture. Give me a day or two. My knob has "SS" on it, I think and is walnut. Check with / or Google, "The Filling Station", and see what they have. Bill H
  6. Damn Pot-metal Castings. Bill H I win the Almond Joy, as my Dad used to say.
  7. I just never goy my head around.... Sand blasting with salt. ( soda ). Nope!! Stripper and a massage, with a DA, works good for me. Bill H
  8. Just do it before it gets away. Parts are available but you have to pay and work for them. Nice car. Bill H
  9. I love traditional hot rods. I grew up with them. I have an all original, numbers matching, to the bolts, 1968 Chevrolet, 327, 300 hp in a building, with Muncie 4 speed. I sold my first car....A 1930 Model A, that I had for 40 years, so that I wouldn't rod it. Now I am focusing on a great 1930 Chrysler CJ, 4dr, restoration..... Original to the bolts. You have hit the LOTTERY finding your 31. Great find. I've bought stuff for my Chrysler, from The Filling Station. Great, friendly people. I bought the front windshield, raise and lower mechanism from them. Same as chev. Please keep the 31 original. Gorgeous car. Bill Harmatuk
  10. New Bern, North Carolina. The Great Snow of 2014 Bill H What car is this.??
  11. Thats what I was thinking, John. The dash and instrument cluster are definately A Model. The Headlight bar also looks like Chrysler product. So do the rear fenders. Bill H
  12. I was a big fan of the beauty and the sorrow of seeing vintage cars in the woods or in abandoned junk yards, rusting away, as a kid. 1965 B.C.. (Before Cameras.) Thanks for sharing. Bill H
  13. Very nice. Good save. I would have done the same. I have my eye on a convertible but no where to put it. Bill H
  14. The shell was manufactured in two pieces and more if you count the center hood rod holder and a shim.. I think there are 10..... 5 rivets on each side of the shell perimeter piece, at the top, (a flange), that.... the section where the cap is located,... join. Two flanges that join at the top of the shell. There are also some thick, round felt bumpers that I am going to reproduce on the shell, that are held on by hollow rivets. My pictures don't work anymore with my camera so I'm going to have to do I Phone pictures. Bill H
  15. Thanks, txphantom. I have all the parts for a 30 Chrysler speedo cable, but mine is broken. Thanks for the phone number. Bill H
  16. The cheapest, best squeezer is 199.99, (I got a penny), 200.00.dollars. I have about 20, small, hollow, plated rivets, to set in a 30 Chrysler radiator shell. Sure hate to buy a squeezer and don't want to fab a home made one. Still have to buy the 3/16 shank dies. Not a rivet gun. Any one have a rivet squeezer for sale or rent? Bill Harmatuk New Bern, N.C.
  17. Split rivets were used originally. Where did you get the correct lacing.?? Bill H
  18. I want to see the asking price before I find fault with the small details of a very desirable automobile. If I had the disposable cash, (and the car collections), that some of you have.... I wouldn't bat an eye at this car. Its like the worst house in the best neighbor hood. No body does sweat equity anymore. My 2 cts. Bill H
  19. Google Cunifer. Better than copper, easy to work with. Same color as copper. Used in Europe. I'm buying it for my 30 Chrysler CJ. Bill H
  20. I know where there is a "garage find", less than 5 miles from my house. It is a 1966 Chevelle SS 396 car. Blue with black stripes. Blue interior. One owner. Beautiful. The car was bought new by a lady and soon after it was bought, it was stolen. The thieves pulled the 396 and after the car was recovered, the Chevrolet dealership installed a brand new 327. probably less than 20,000 miles on the car if that much. The car hasn't seen daylight in I KNOW, 40 years. The one car garage doors haven't been open in 40 years. The car is not for sale. Bill H
  21. Keep a look out on the roadsides and roll back tow trucks. Volvo, Audi, Jaguar, BMW, Volkswagen, Mercedes, .... Did I forget anything European?? Do you need stories? I don't want to be ugly, and I apologize, but I have been a car guy and mechanic for 58 years. If you have plenty of money and time. Go for it. Money is everywhere, if you need it. You can't buy time and you can't get a loan for time. My 2 Cents Bill H
  22. Chrysler, Dodge, 383, 2 barrel. I bet it is a 1966 model. Not sure. A ton of power even with the 2 barrel carburetor. I had a 66 Polara that would fly. Bill H
  23. My new Michelins wore out around 35,000 miles and discovered on the sidewall.... Made in Japan. Filed a claim and never heard a word. Got the run around from the tire dealer about the made in Japan. Never went back to that dealer and I make it a point to steer my friends away. ( Warped rotors and inferior brake parts. ) I've bought a lot of Michelins since. Not from that dealer. Bill H
  24. Any and every automobile that wasn't being used or driven, (my Dad saw it and told me about it), was taken to the scrap yard. Brass cars, Chrysler imperials, Cadillacs, Packards, you name it. Anything brass, copper, aluminum, or steel was hauled to the scrap yard for the war effort. Don't forget rubber and the ladies silk and wool, paper and cotton....even rags. My parents moved South, from Syracuse, N.Y. at the beginning of the war to help build an Air Force Base near Elizabeth City, N.C. My Dad was born with a hernia, as a child, and couldn't enlist, which was a disgrace. He stayed and moved further South after the War, which made him a real DAMN Yankee, for sure. God Bless America. Bill H
