  1. If It was closer I would buy it in a second. Its a long way from North Carolina. Bill H
  2. You are not responsible for a lifetime guarantee, because I am not the original owner. America at its finest, 2012. Bill Harmatuk
  3. 59 Chrysler Imperial convertible. Bill H
  4. Does your rear floor look like this?? I have a 30 CJ-6. The wooden plank or body sill is held in place by several carriage bolts and several slotted head, counter sunk wood screws. I was just looking at it and making up my mind on wether to remove both sills to make cleaning / painting the underside of the body easier. If I do remove both sills I am going to have my friend duplicate and make about 10 pairs from whatever kind of wood they were made from. From the cowl to mid-ship should be the same for sedans and coups. As I took these pictures I was also thinking about what a task it would be to duplicate the floors. You are the second person that is asking about rear floors. I can get you more detailed pictures if you need them. I don't know if there is a seam under the rear seat bottom trim, but I will explore with a mirror and light. I do know the floor is spot welded across the back, under the body. (might be wrong). Will explore and take pictures. Anything else E me. harmatukbill@gmail Bill H
  5. Resio I am willing to help any way I can. E Mail the dimensions and I will do my best. Do you use centimeters or inches.?? I can give you both. I am busy some time and it may take a couple of days to respond. I will also include pictures, if possible. harmatukbill@gmail.com
  6. 1930 Chrysler CJ-6. Right hand drive. I can get pictures of my chassis if you need them. Bill Harmatuk
  7. I have an all cast iron carburetor that came on my 1930 Chrysler when I bought it, that looks very similar to your carburetor. From all my research... The only clue or match that I was able to find was the round tag, with numbers. The tag was found on most Zenith carbs. A lot of Zenith carburetors, and Carter BB-1's were fitted to cars because they are much easier to work on, and cheaper to buy as replacements. I AM NOT an expert on carburetors. Bill H
  8. Coley & Restorer32 Thanks for the replies. Your thoughts were my thoughts, also. Any application of anything would only affect the outer surface of the wood. The car IF ever finished will probably never get rained on. Only some Carolina humidity. Thanks Bill Harmatuk
  9. Terry I was just thinking out loud. one day the car is going to see day light and be exposed to humidity again.I was guessing that while I have the chance, was there anything I could do to help preserve the wood from dry rot or what ever. As a person that works with wood, sometimes,... If you look at the craftsmanship of the interior frame work, I feel like I should treat it with something. Some kind of oil. Are the joints glued? I know a guy that restores 300 year old violins, that I see from time to time and I bet he has an idea. Violins are made of what... maple, I think. My daughter has a Masters in performance from Boston Conservatory. Crazy post. Bill H
  10. Ladys and Gentlemen I will only have one chance to preserve the wooden framework on the inside, behind the upholstery in my 30 Chrysler. It is all in excellent original condition. What would be a good product to apply to the wood to see it through 80 more years. Tung oil?? Boiled linseed oil?? I just want to nourish the oak and maple, (?), not harden the wood or coat the wood with anything that will harden. Looking for thoughts from the experts. Thanks in advance Bill Harmatuk No, I am not that far along with the restoration.
  11. Tim My CJ has a copper brake line, (to my surprise), that I had to scrape with a pocket knife to see what it was made of / from. My gas line is steel, but I will check to see. Vacuum lines are un painted steel. They thread thru the cowl and wind shield to supply the wiper motor. I handle them gently to preserve the crooks bend and curves. Marty Lum sent me some factory pictures of a 30 Desoto CK chassis that was painted black with the gas tank and cover installed. All black. My question to Mary was the correct color of the gas tank and bands. I am assuming that the brake lines and fuel lines would be installed before the body was set... Also painted black... Or semi gloss black. Bill Harmatuk
  12. The wood is bolted to the body with carriage bolts and then the wood sits on top of the chassis mounts with rubber, 3/8 0r 5/16 rubber pads to cushion things. Will try to get pictures. Bill H
  13. Tim My 30 CJ Chrysler still has the fuel line, brake lines in place attached with original hangers. I have the vacuum line that goes to the windshield wiper but it is off the car. I handle it very gently to preserve the original factory bends and curves. I will look today to see if the lines are painted or natural finish. This will be a start. I do know that I scraped the brake line on the passenger side of the motor with a pocket knife to see what it was made of, (it was painted), and to my surprise, the brake line was painted 1/4 inch copper. Marty Lum has sent me factory pictures of a 30 CK Desoto chassis so he may chime in. He is my virtual assistant and mentor. Great guy. Bill Harmatuk
  14. Is that a spot of lead in the middle hole?? It could be a brace or shim from between the wood frame and sheet metal. Rear window stop?? Just guessing. Bill H
  15. I have the body off my chassis. The steering wheel / gear assembly is removed but the pitman arm and drag link are still connected and on the chassis. I'll get you a few pictures and may-be you can figure out the placement of every thing. Bill H
  16. This is the best I can do. The fan is pretty straight forward. If you need anything else let me know. Bill H
  17. The best I can do to help, is post a couple of pictures of my 30 CJ 6 fan and mount. Seems like the water pump mounts on the front of the engine block. I'll get some pictures tonight. Bill Harmatuk
  18. Here are the front and back spring bumpers on my 1930 Chrysler CJ. They are 72 years old and they look like it. Hope these pictures help. Bill H
  19. Well... It's amazing what a pair of glasses and some sunlight will do. Notice the small patches of black paint. I do not recall ever doing anything to the gas tank except removing the sending unit and washing it out with solvent. Thanks for the replies. Bill H
  20. Why is it that I don't see even one speck of black paint on the gas tank, anywhere.?? As far as I know the gas tank has never been dipped or boiled for cleaning. And yes... The CK Desoto is almost the same car. I'll get pictures of the tank when I get the pictures of the rubber spring bumpers for another thread in the "General" section. Thanks for the replies. Bill H
  21. I know the gas tank was coated, outside, with what appears to be zinc or early galvanizing, but what paint would match the color of the original hue. In other words.... What paint and what color did you use when you restored your 30 Chrysler gas tank. I'm just trying to be correct with the restoration / color, and now is the time to ask such questions. Thanks in advance. Bill H
  22. I also need my pads covered. Especially the front two. I am is the US. Steele will probably re-vulcanize mine. I have done business with Steele Rubber Products before. I will try to get you pictures of my insulators today. I call them spring bumpers. What ever. My car is a 30 CJ-6, but they should be the same. Bill H
  23. Pictures of my 30 CJ-6. You have a 30 CJ-6. I can usually tell a CJ body by the way the cowl lights mount to the body. My serial number is mounted on the front passenger door hinge pillar / post between the hinges. It is 6502274. No letters in the serial number. I have never seen a Fedco plate on my car. Bill Harmatuk My front sun visor is removed. Need more info i'll be glad to help.
