  1. As for the radiator cap, Bob's Automobilia in California http://bobsautomobilia.com/shop/ is primarily for Buick parts, but they know Cadillac, and which pieces will solve the problems. My 1941 Cadillac had a typical radiator cap, and I did not know that one with a longer depth was needed until Bob was able to supply it. My car used to push out coolant because the system was essentially "open" rather than pressurized. Now, thanks to some careful examination, and parts from Bob, the problem is solved and the Caddy has run cross-country several times without running hot.
  2. Agreed -- Gould Rebuilders, while no longer in Arthur's hands personally, still does commendable work . They have done several water pumps and fuel pumps for me over the years, and I would use them again in a heartbeat !! This is the website: http://arthurgouldrebuilders.com/
  3. Agreed !! This has to be the coolest view of one of the Koolest Buick Dream Cars ever !! Did I see this one at the GM Motorama at the Waldorf Astoria in New York City in the fall of 1953?? Dad and Mom took us to the Motorama every year.
  4. Nice looking car, but stains on rear seat beak and side trim indicate either a "Flood Car" of some serious water leaks on both right and left
  5. Could it be that, as the heat increases, you might have a vacuum leak - possibly requiring more choke to minimize the effects of a vacuum leak to equalize the air/fuel mixture? I have had a similar concern with my Packard at some times, but it will miss badly until I choke it.

    idle

Not when you come to a stop, but when you first start the car, will it run at idle initially, and then only kill after a rolling stop? If this is the case then your problem is probably not the "IDLE JET". Check to see that when you reassembled the carb, that the "stop" for the "IDLE SCREW" is installed properly. I've seen these inverted and become useless.
  7. Sorry for the delay in responding to your additional question - we've been on the road, touring with another old car. To the best of my recollection, nothing more need be done, other than to disable the pump as previously noted. Good luck.
  8. As Matt said, "Yes, National AACA Meets are always open to the public.", and..... there is NO CHARGE FOR ADMISSION... free to come in and enjoy, and hopefully become an active part of this great hobby !!
  9. We expect to be at Louisville for the 80th AACA Anniversary, and will be showing the 1934 Buick for Repeat Preservation. She was awarded Senior Grand National when last shown.
  10. Take a look at my ad in this same category -- probably outside of your pricing target range, but your producer and director would likely be making a far better choice for the long range. Contact me either on this FORUM, or by email/PM (Private Message) by clicking on my name at the upper left. This car is a fantastic driver, and also has a significant history in cinema prior to being fully restored (Pretty Baby, Ray, etc.).
  11. Thanks Bob, There has been quite a bit of interest, but so far our 1934 Buick is still available. I expect to show it at the AACA 80th Anniversary Meet in Louisville for another Repeat Preservation, since it has already been awarded Senior Grand National status, as well as First and Repeat Preservation at prior AACA National Meets. If you know of anyone who would be a good conservator for this fine Buick, please feel free to share this link and my information. How is you progress on your Buick?
  12. Thank you for posting these pics -- wish I had been able to attend...

  14. ptjanice You are responding to an ad which is almost thirteen (13 years) old
  15. Bud, I am in Northern Illinois and Wisconsin this week, but there is a couple on our tour with a 1941 Cadillac convertible coupe like mine. I will see if I can get a photo of his car's "Flippers", and determine if they are straight or curved, and the length (I do not have a ruler with me). I will get back with you ASAP.
  16. Check to see if a FASTENAL location may be convenient for both of you -- they will ship your odd-shaped and heavy items between their locations at very affordable prices
  17. Where are the seats located? What is the asking price?
  18. Very nice looking car ... could I be Richard Dreyfus in "American Grafitti" ? ...wish I had more space...
  19. Bud, I took these shots with the cell phone camera when driving a friend's daughter to her wedding Saturday. Hope this helps. I will measure the 1941 Caddy conv coupe's "flippers" when I can get to the car in about 10 days - 2 weeks - to see if they are comparable. Check mout these photos
  20. Chuck, thank you for your kind comments. Yours is also an exceptional Buick - and I agree - it is the people who make the hobby !
  21. We expect to show our '34 Buick at the AACA 80th Anniversary Meet in Louisville, Kentucky next month. If you are interested, that may be a closer location for you to actually see this car.
  22. We expect to have this Buick at the AACA 80th Anniversary Meet in Louisville, Kentucky in July. By the way, that Meet is inside of an Air-Conditioned facility - same place as the 75th Anniversary celebration back in June/July of 2010.
  23. Bud, I will have my 1937 Roadmaster 80C out on Saturday for a friend's daughter's wedding. I will try to remember to get some photos of the 1937 at that time. They may be similar to the comparable part on our 1941 Cadillac convertible coupe (cabriolet), but I will not be to that garage for a couple of weeks. Please phone me Saturday morning around 9:00 prior to the wedding and I'll text you pictures and try to get a measurement.
