  1. Not yet - we seem to have been subject to Date Conflicts, but I would really like to attend. We had planned to go to Portland last year, but with the '14 (100 Year Old Car). Hopefully before too long....
  2. Had the '34 at the AACA National Meet in Louisville, and was awarded Repeat Preservation.
  3. Bob, I am sure that I could use the electrics and the cables and boxes from that seat. I wish I had a way to get the whole thing down here. I'm still trying to see if it is one big bench seat, or a pair of separate seats. Could you tell me which it is?
  4. Hi Dave, and thanks for asking. The Louisville Meet was very well run, and was an absolute pleasure. Just imagine the entire show, the banquet, and Judges School, Team Captain School, and Judges breakfast all being held inside the magnificent Kentucky Expo Center. The facility is huge, and is entirely Air-Conditioned. An indoor car show in the summertime in Kentucky ! Our 1934 Buick received her AACA National Repeat Preservation Award. and was in excellent company. Malcolm (Busd) Ensor was also there with his red 1936 Roadmaster 80C, and received his Senior Award. Hopefully he will show again for his First Preservation, and next year for Grand National. Doug and Ronnie Seybold showed a spectacular yellow (of course!) 1940 Super Convertible Sedan. At this moment I cannot recall the name of the owner of the beautiful early McLaughlin, and there was another 1937 Buick alongside Bud's '36.

    Score!!

Wow !! Great book at a give-away price. I paid a bunch more for my copy.
  6. We had the 1934 out over the weekend for a run around the neighborhood just to have a bit of fun before heading to the AACA Met in Louisville, KY. Every time I drive this car I'm more and more impressed at just how smooth she is - how light she steers - how solid the vacuum-assisted Power Brakes are, and how the radio sounds like a big powerful Wurlitzer Juke Box from the 30s. Yes, I do have it up for sale, but driving it makes me want to keep it - I'll probably never find another one as solid.
  7. Look for me and this Buick at the Louisville AACA Meet this Friday Afternoon & Saturday in Class 20-C !!!

  9. I see you already have Lloyd's contact information. I drove my '34 yesterday, and am still smiling.
  10. AACA presents a CENTURY PLAQUE (badge) to 100 year-old vehicles which participate in a National Tour or MEET. HCCA sells a Century Badge ($5) to any member who applies and furnishes documentation. While I no longer have my 1914 Buick B-37, both of the above referenced badges went with it to a good new home. I agree that we are missing out on an important way to recognize these fine vehicles.
  11. Lloyd has done three of my cars and you couldn't ask for a better person to deal with. He has my respect. His skill, attitude, and sense of fairness is an example for how we would like so many others to be.
  12. A slight drip of water from the Packing Nut is a GOOD thing. Of course you do not want a running stream of coolant, but over-tightening to the point where no water leaks past the packing - is probably TOO TIGHT. A slight amount is just fine.
  13. Mark, Which oil do you suggest for the Clutch Release (Throw-Out) Bearing for Bob's 1934 Buick?
  14. We'll be there with the 1934 Buick - arriving Wednesday, and looking forward to the Ice Cream that evening. The Friday Banquet should be a great get-together.
  15. Or the Drive In Theaters on US-22 in NJ... up around Union also not far from my old stomping grounds - the BIG-TOP CAR-HOP -- there was more drag racing on US-22 on Fridays and Saturday nights than in all of the formal drag strips all across the Northeast corridor, or so it seemed. There was even the time that a large group formed a "HUMAN CHAIN" across one side of US-22 so that a couple of cars could get a fair start. Of course the local law enforcement got into the act after that evening's antics! I'm in New Orleans now, but we still have family up in Highland Park, outside of New Brunswick, and the Linden HS reunions are always a good time, no matter where they are held.

  17. Our local Chapter of Louisiana Region AACA did a weekend in Hattiesburg, Mississippi several years ago. The big attraction was the Drive-In Movie Theater. Sound was broadcast via FM Radio. It was a very different experience since those from down here showed up with LAWN CHAIRS and COOLERS filled with ADULT BEVERAGES IN POP-TOP CANS. When we went to the Drive-In back in New Jersey back in the 1950s and 1960s, we stayed in our cars and fogged up the windows. PS: That weekend the prize for the most fogged windows went to our triple-black 1970 Cadillac convertible.
  18. Yes, I know the feeling. I almost didn't buy this one because of the asking price, and because there was absolutely no room in the '88 Corvette convertible we drove from home to Wisconsin and Illinois for this week-long tour. Along with the (expensive) three porcelain pieces my wife bought, I figured that another tour attendee could get them home and meet me later, maybe at Hershey. Fortunately, when we packed for the trip home we were able to protect the delicate pieces within soft clothing items, but my wife's side of the 'Vette was very cramped and did not give her the comfort she deserves for all the traveling we do in support of the hobby.
  19. The person who phoned my home - I could not understand your message or your phone number. Please call again.
  20. I think that the pin may be tapered, but forgot which end is the larger diameter.
  21. While on tour in Illinois and New Glarus, Wisconsin a couple of weeks ago, during lunch I played a Swiss Alphorn as if it were a jazz trumpet. Prior to lunch we visited an antiques shop and found a beer stein which was part of a Budweiser collection. Some of you likely are aware of this piece, but I hadn't noticed it before, and Dale said I had to have it, (along with a motorcycle jacket which will zip if I stop eating until August). The 1948 Buick Roadmaster convertible on the mug is made in a "Relief", so it actually stands out from the surface, and you can feel the shape of the hood, fenders, windshield, spotlight, grille, body lines, bumper, etc. While certainly not an "antique", mt wife just could not leave it on the shelf, and handed it to me so I could negotiate a price (together with the really good stuff she wanted - two Lladro porcelain statues, etc.).
  22. I find that 10% to 20% kerosine or diesel fuel helps to reduce vapor lock, as well !
  23. Mark's comment (above) is a reliable way to seek a vacuum leak.
  24. Finally - some photos: And a big "Thank-You" to Barry and Lindie Eash at B & L Enterprises of Windber, PA for their efforts toward getting the 1915 Hudson ready to drive the 1915 AACA VINTAGE TOUR to be held in the area of Lancaster, PA later this month.
