  1. Wow what a treasure trove of great meet photos. Loved all the non-restored patina vehicles. There were quite a few. Thanks Chris for posting link and big thanks to your friend Randy.
  2. WOW!! There's something you don't see too often. Wonder if BS code tranny too
  3. Hey folks incase you have not checked lately, Randall Crain has 144 photos uploaded, professionally arranged and titled on the ROA Photo Gallery from the Kalamazoo meet. Big Thank You to Randall for the many hours of hard work it takes to do this. Check it out! https://rivowners.org/Gallery/thumbnails.php?album=58
  4. Alex, Thank you for the video and congratulations on the well deserved Gold and the car running excellent on the trip. 14mpg is good for a GS running 70-75. Nice bunch of Rivs there. Anyone know how many cars total?
  5. Yep completely stock throughout. I wanted the driving experience to feel EXACTLY like it would have been when the 66MZ was new.
  6. Ed - It is my understanding those 3 cams are identical. All with 109 spacing/lobe separation. So yea, find a stock 63 with an original "optional" 425 with good internals and original distributor and you have a very strong running engine. I always thought the 63s with 425 would be so much more sought after if they didn't have the Dynaslow tranny. šŸ˜
  7. I installed the TA-20 and vacuum was an issue. Not quite enough for consistent brake booster operation let alone old A/C vacuum controls that need all the boost they can get. I think it was around 12" at 700 rpm. Would have been OK if I brought idle speed up to 1600rpm but I wasn't doing that. At the time you could get that grind with a 112 Lobe Center but it wasn't in stock so I got the 110 and was promised vacuum would be fine. Only afterward in troubleshooting and making calls I learned from Jerry Cantrell (Schneider Cams who grinds them) NO it wouldn't be fine. He said the 112 LC would improve vacuum maybe 1.5-2" at normal idle which is still marginal in a car like a Riviera. Bottom line I was very disappointed and changed the cam. Nothing better than the Factory 091 dual quad cam for a Riviera....which is NOT available. Buick engineers who designed it back in the day knew what they were doing. I always wondered why a camshaft maker never duplicated that grind. Thankfully Telriv set me up with an original 091 cam for which I am grateful to this day.
  8. Awesome Video Ed. Amazing how many different hands were involved in building our cars. Its a wonder they weren't more expensive than they were. I was digg'in that 70 Cadillac at 12:35. Yes agree Alex the automation was impressive for the time period.
  9. The exterior door handles are offered by a member in the Riview Classifieds. He likely has the interior latch assembly as well. OPGI lists the exterior reproduction door handle but I have no experience to say what the quality is. Personally I'd try to find originals.
  10. Check your shop manual as bulb size is location dependent. If I recall I think #158s (3.4watt) were used for general instrument lighting and they are very close to the 3.7 watt #194. If the internet is correct, the 161s are lower wattage at 2.7.
  11. Here is correct mounting. This is an original valve. Replacement valves do not have the grove for the retaining clip that secures it to bracket.
  12. Outstanding photos Brian! Thanks for posting. Great time for sure at the "family reunion". 94 cars parked on show day. Thanks for bringing your 65. What an incredible car....but I would expect nothing less!
  13. My trusty weather app says its going to be beautiful for duration of meet. High 80s low 90s.
  14. Remove interior sail panel and trim, and probably quarter side panel but not 100% sure about latter. I don't think the drip rail has to come off. You can see a screw on the side on 1st pic at the wide end. This would be lower rear accessible from under sail panel. There is at least one more screw towards top where the door window seal meets. You can see the hole in second pic. Note: This seal is glued, reinforced with wire, and special nylon tape at the junction/joint with door window seal. If you've replaced the door seal you will know what I mean.
  15. No not close. Looks like maybe a fuzzy strip for the lower quarter window stainless
  16. Hi Gabriel. A very special over-engineered part. Custom molded hard rubber vulcanized to an elaborate metal channel mounting piece. Only find used and preferably not from an arid climate. They are often good on north eastern rust buckets that see more clouds than sun.
  17. Yea I missed that and thanks for correction Tom. Shop manual says remove plug and lube. With the slip joint being inside the frame tunnel removal and reinstall of plug is not a fun task. Much easier when the shaft is out.
  18. Yea more involved. There is a solenoid that triggers oil flow to change the converter blade angle. Electrical connector is a 2 pin for the SP vs 1 pin (kickdown) for non SP and thats towards the rear of trans so either the whole housing or valve body is different at a minimum.
  19. Beautiful color combo!. Pretty nice car (from pics) except for the front bumper bar being bent up in middle.
  20. Hard to believe a shop wouldn't have this needle adapter. I've had one since I was 16....but then again I had a Riv when I was 16. I've used it for other applications over the years.
  21. The lower bushings were the same from 63-70 on Riviera and big Buicks so it would be a very common part. From what I can see its correct for lower control arm.
  22. What were you doing at the junk yard Pat? šŸ™‚
