  2. Thank You, for the link, it works from it.
  3. Having trouble uploading pics to the gallery. More specific, My Gallery if there is such a place. Is the a "Sticky" to guide me through this? How do I search the gallery by my screen-name?
  4. Exactly, Been there done that! If the service manager, came to you with a set of keys and said put XXXXX miles on this one. You did it. If you were working flat-rate ; this was a good paying job. I even saw it in dealers, into the 90's. Not only used car dealers; but franchised dealers too. In PA we have a State Inspection Sticker, on the windshield; it was renewed with the newer odometer reading. That was then; now the speedometer has to be sent to a firm with the electronic equipment, to do so; or sent back to the factory. If sent back to the factory; it probably is done a vendor anyway. Does this equipment exist outside of the factory, only a fool would deny it. Of course a statement has to be sent in with the speedo head; as to why the odometer change is warranted. Somebody signs off on that odometer statement. There are perfectly legal reasons why a odometer has to be adjusted; maybe a used speed head installed into another vehicle. Now with mileage statements required on trade-ins and cross checking of License, Insurance and State Inspection files; the dealers have to be careful. But on our collectable antique vehicles; it is still open season. Buyer Beware
  5. Great Find We all wish that, the cars we look at; would be as good as that one. Have Fun intimeold
  6. Hello, From looking at what is shown of the gearshift indicator; can't see the full indicator, the right end is blocked in all the pics. The looks to be a Turbo-Glide transmission, I think I can see the top of the G in one pic. There again I can't see the whole indicator. I owned several 57- 58 Chevy's, and none had the Turbo-Glide transmission. I am only asking your driving impression; if this does still have the Turbo-Glide. With the torque of the 348, it should be a nice road car. Smooth and constant ability to accelerate. How does it do on hills? In 1957 my father had a transmission shop, and the 1957's were quite a problem; but that was fixed later with updates. We live in the mountains; and I always wondered if the constant up and down the hills; attributed to their woes. Nice car, had a 58 Tri-Power same color; but mine was far from nice. intimeold
  7. I read the ad, right up to the cigarette butt; then lost concentration
  8. I enjoyed your story; it was a new one for me, as well You didn't have to mucky it up by adding politics
  9. Maybe he needs the 1600cc non overhead cam engine. This engine was more compact that the early 2000cc overhead cam engine. These were available in the early Pinto's. They may have been a Ford Cortina based engine. I actually thought it was a good engine; with less problems than the overhead cam engine. At the time the 1600 cc was available; the 2000cc was having a lot of cam and cam follower problems. I worked at a Ford dealer when the Pinto came out. We never had problems with the 1600cc.; but the 2000cc kept us busy. When the 2300 came out, it was a more refined engine. If you can say, the 2300 was ever refined.
  10. Great car, paint needs rubbed out to be perfect
  11. Your buddy Greg was spot on: About the maximum lean condition. I would add if the vehicle automobile, "Motorcycle, chainsaw, generator, etc)", is low on fuel; turn the engine off. For several reasons, possibility of pulling contaminate, from the bottom of the fuel tank; and don't run an engine in a too lean condition, may cause damage.
  12. I saw this posted, somewhere else; and it was said to a real item. Possibly for sidewalks or in-town parking lots. On the other hand the Rolls looks to be photo shopped.
  13. These are great road cars. Just add a few friends and get on an interstate; and let the big V-8 run.
