  1. Yes, the 26-27 Fordor, a holdover from the 23-25 bodies is the last of the composite metal over wood Ford bodies. It was built for Ford by Budd. Among the differences from other 26-7 Fords is it is the last Model T with the gastank under the seat. I love your photo. Oh the things we did when we were young!
  2. I am preparing to remove the body of a 1926 Ford Fordor sedan. This thread has offered the best real-world advice I have seen in some time. I greatly appreciate the OP question and all of the well considered answers.
  3. Are you sure it's a 600? I as because the Ambassadors had full frames from the factory and the fully opened rear fenders. What does it have for an engine?

  8. I have been there with the loss of parents. It tends to be (rightly) all consuming. My condolences at a difficult time though I applaud you for seeking some emotional shelter doing something with the car that is fulfilling. All the best! Eric
  9. Dumb question here, but I assume the green ribbon is a class award, gold is a bigger award and is red or blue a thing too? I still like Ed's notion of BOS to the Duesenberg Speedster but can't argue that the Voison is fabulous as is that Packard town car. What an interior in that car!

  11. I am not disagreeing but it sure looks short without coachwork. I am sure that is the optical illusion the bodywork creates. I have to reiterate how much I appreciate all the photos and information shared here. I am glad you guys are having so much fun. Like everyone else here I am greatly looking forward to the photos from the show tomorrow.
  12. I don't know about the rest of you but this page is instantly addictive. I keep hankering for more. I am curious about the SWB Duesenberg chassis. Maybe it is not a public question but I don't think this is one of the two original SSJ chassis is it? I say that as I thought both of those were supercharged. This chassis clearly is not. I know of at least two others that were shortened after the facts I find myself wondering if the shassis a page or two back is one of the recreation chassis or is it an unknown new emergence? It's interesting either way.

  14. I believe this is Bill Parfet's Lincoln. While not confirmed, it is likely a car sold from his grandfather's dealership. It's a great car.

  17. Wow! I want it. Here is a reason to remortgage the house, sell every car in the collection, cash in the kids college fun, whatever. Alas, if I did all of that I still could not afford this magnificent car. I can look at the photos a few more times though as this is pure art in motion.
  18. If this were located in the Midwest I would be all over this car. It ticks every box other than color for me. And...from the view of a Michigander, to see a Chrysler product with so little rust is amazing. Definitely worth saving.
  19. It is. I drove my first car, a 1947 Nash 600, from Kalamazoo, MI to St. Ignace, MI when I was 16 (in 1982) and drove about 50 mph all the way. I averaged about 28-29 mpg. The car I owned did not have overdrive but I had really big tires on it, like 7:00 ×16's, so in some ways the tires became full time overdrive. I miss that car.
  20. I was unloading a '62 Lincoln in the driveway and time was short. I blocked the wheels and loosened the tie downs. Did I mention that a '62 Lincn weighs nearly 6000 lbs? The slightest push and the Lincoln rolled neatly off the trailer, breaking free of the tie downs...and right into my '26 Model T, (a AACA Grand National winner) in the garage. Oops.
  21. I'm going to take a couple more guesses. How about an open Peerless Master 8 Roadster? It's not a Classic but a heck of a car with Lycoming power. Or...how about an Essex convertible coupe? Hmm...was a Roosevelt an 8? Methinks so. Hope family stuff calms down for you Ed.
  22. I'm thinking Stutz, Graham, Marmon, Gardner..something really off the beaten trail. It would have to be something good to get into Amelia or Pebble. Ed's not a convertible sedan guy so that's out (probably), thus I'm going to hazzard a wild guess, a Stutz Blackhawk phaeton or roadster.
