I had a couple '50 Buicks over the years, both Specials. That's what I think this car is, a Special with an extra porthole drilled into the hood. Look at the photo where the second porthole is darker. On the Special, that's where the external hood handle went. I could be wrong but I really doubt this car is a Roadmaster.

Yes, the 26-27 Fordor, a holdover from the 23-25 bodies is the last of the composite metal over wood Ford bodies. It was built for Ford by Budd. Among the differences from other 26-7 Fords is it is the last Model T with the gastank under the seat. I love your photo. Oh the things we did when we were young!

I am preparing to remove the body of a 1926 Ford Fordor sedan. This thread has offered the best real-world advice I have seen in some time. I greatly appreciate the OP question and all of the well considered answers.

Are you sure it's a 600? I as because the Ambassadors had full frames from the factory and the fully opened rear fenders. What does it have for an engine?

An IDIOT'S view on collector car trends and pricing....

I owned three Miatas over the years. Nothing special about the car eh? Nope, he's right, the cars aren't special, they are magical. Clearly he's never driven one. -

According to Rolls engineers, why use four bolts when nine will do? -
TKX Tremec 5 speed in a 68 Galaxie
ericmac replied to 68LTD's topic in Our Cars & Restoration Projects
I like it. Once upon a time I thought of adding a 5 speed manual to a 60s Lincoln Convertible, just because I thought it would be fun to people's reactions. -
Great thread. I hope others can contribute.

Dumb question here, but I assume the green ribbon is a class award, gold is a bigger award and is red or blue a thing too? I still like Ed's notion of BOS to the Duesenberg Speedster but can't argue that the Voison is fabulous as is that Packard town car. What an interior in that car!

These are some awesome photos. You guys made my day.

I am not disagreeing but it sure looks short without coachwork. I am sure that is the optical illusion the bodywork creates. I have to reiterate how much I appreciate all the photos and information shared here. I am glad you guys are having so much fun. Like everyone else here I am greatly looking forward to the photos from the show tomorrow.

I don't know about the rest of you but this page is instantly addictive. I keep hankering for more. I am curious about the SWB Duesenberg chassis. Maybe it is not a public question but I don't think this is one of the two original SSJ chassis is it? I say that as I thought both of those were supercharged. This chassis clearly is not. I know of at least two others that were shortened after the facts I find myself wondering if the shassis a page or two back is one of the recreation chassis or is it an unknown new emergence? It's interesting either way.

I love that we get to live vicariously through all these posts. Some really fabulous cars to see!

I believe this is Bill Parfet's Lincoln. While not confirmed, it is likely a car sold from his grandfather's dealership. It's a great car.

That looks like a car that could turn a large fortune into a small one. -

This thing is the embodiment of the phrase "someone had too much time on his hands. " -
It is. I drove my first car, a 1947 Nash 600, from Kalamazoo, MI to St. Ignace, MI when I was 16 (in 1982) and drove about 50 mph all the way. I averaged about 28-29 mpg. The car I owned did not have overdrive but I had really big tires on it, like 7:00 ×16's, so in some ways the tires became full time overdrive. I miss that car.

I was unloading a '62 Lincoln in the driveway and time was short. I blocked the wheels and loosened the tie downs. Did I mention that a '62 Lincn weighs nearly 6000 lbs? The slightest push and the Lincoln rolled neatly off the trailer, breaking free of the tie downs...and right into my '26 Model T, (a AACA Grand National winner) in the garage. Oops.
