  1. The picture in my avatar is of a 29 Pontiac that was still in the barn when i snapped it. It had been driven there in 1954. I bought it and a 37 Olds. I wish I could post more pic's but they were on a hard drive that crashed and is now gone. I wish i could find the pic's of a 69 Chrysler 300 convertible that was in the lower floor of a barn and had quite the small piles of wood dust covering it from the termites that had been chewing on the beams above it. Nice even rows! The barn next to it contained a fleet of 1920's & 30's cars that the owner wouldn't let me photograph. A customer of his put them there over 40 years ago and still paid up storage every January but never even came to look or tinker with them.
  2. Alfa lovers= masochists. Such beautiful cars... and the only ones worse than British LOL!!
  3. I have seen this a few times at Ken Hindley's place ( he is restoring on a Pierce Arrow for a friend of mine) It really is a beautiful combo, that he drives every summer.
  4. What a great story. I think if that car was found now in 2011 it would be left as a survivor with replacement of damaged parts only. Maybe that's only wishful thinking on my part!
  5. Didn't Cadillac build a later version of this also? Say around 57?
  6. Should I post this in the for sale section also?
  7. Thanks West. Even at $3500 it's cheaper to buy a decent driver than resurrect this one. That's what I figured, but they are very tempting at that price! You know, buy it now, stuff it in the back of a barn and hope to get to it before I croak or go broke!
  8. Interesting car that just came up for sale. Estate sale. I've always wanted one of these, but have never been able to afford the time & money. What do you experts think of this one? Parts car or restore? Value vs. buying a decent driver say low#2 or #3 condition? 1956 Lincoln Continental MK II Coupe - Renfrew Collector Cars For Sale - Kijiji Renfrew Canada.
  9. A close friend of mine has a '57 RR. It's been off the road for many years and she is going to get it back on the road this year. I told her as long as she doesn't have to rely on it and only uses it for a hobby car, go for it until the wallet screams enough! They are still a regal looking machine.
  10. When I look at a 30's or 60's car car that has a "Concours" polished paint frame I can appreciate it BUT it's not restored as original. It's over restored.
  11. My 63 Eldo convertible had buckets like that.
  12. " If I don't sell it, will keep it". So what other options do you have ?
  13. I have a friend who has no money but a stash of old Chrysler products. I tried to buy a 70 300 convertible from him as I found a rotted 30 Hurst and wanted to make one like the promo car from Indy that Linda Vaughn posed on many times. He also has a 300 Hurst and decided not to sell me the convertible as he wanted to build one after I told him my plans. That was 8 years ago and none of the cars have moved since. He also has a 70 Challenger 440 6pack and many others. I think he just likes teasing people by dangling them as bait once and awhile and then won't sell them. It doesn't bother me anymore as I realize there are more cars for sale for real than I will ever be able to buy; so why waste my time and get frustrated chasing ones that aren't really for sale? Besides if he sells them then he wont have anything to talk about.
  14. I agree. It's pretty tough looking.
  15. That's a great article from '73. I think I read it back then. My grandfather and father as well as uncles always had lots of old Fords around the shop. Some restored, some rodded depending on the condition they started with. There was no conflict in our house. Both sides were equal opportunity gearheads!
  16. Where does "sympatheticly maintained" to original specs fit in? These are afterall mass produced consumer goods meant as transportation when new. Not objects of collectible art when manufactured. Even though the 33 (to me at least) is collectible sculpture today. Survivor is becoming the most arguable description in our language!
  17. For anyone interested in the Canadian Pontiacs and their history check out this informative website Canadian Poncho Always good info and a great bunch of guys to deal with.
  18. I always enjoy car auctions. Been going to them since I was 12 with my grandpa(i'm now 55) B-J has made them popular and made every non-car person think their old piece o' crap is worth huge money "cause I seen one just like it sell for $100,000 on B-J" Thats my only beef with tv coverage of car auctions. It's a TV show not a car auction, folks
  19. Lots of solid steel for rebuilding rusty Northern cars. That 56 Ford 2door sedan looks like it has the original front fenders that don't have the headlights rusted off!
  20. Sounds like it was a good year not to go. My friend had wanted us to make the trek from Ontario to get some parts for his '34 Pierce. He couldn't get away and I'm in no position to buy a car right now, but always enjoy shopping for a bargain. Doesn't appear like anything there for me.
  21. My avatar is a 29 Canadian built Pontiac. I would love to see some pic's of the Stewart body car
  22. To my dismay I am selling, not buying. I'd rather it was the other way around as there is some bargains to be had right now.
