  1. The Pon DeMoussey 3 speed if I guess correct. I have seen a few of these on 61-64 full size Chryslers. The boot and the floor hump look a bit odd, but cool.
  2. Back in the 70's a local yard had a very mean St. Bernard chained to the hulk of an old British small car. When it lunged it could move the car a bit. They fed it pig's head & feet. I felt sorry for that animal as he was never treated right.
  3. My 65 Corvette convertible sitting with the top down when I overheard " That's a Split Window coupe" I said no the window isn't split yet but will be by next year.
  4. Here's my favorite mascot. Covered from the 1st snow of the season, shot by a friend of mine before putting it in storage
  5. That's a very interesting question for sure. As white is now and has been for quite awhile an economy color. I remember the 82 Ford Escort as being offered in base white on the plain jane models as it was the cheapest color of paint to apply. This being the opposite from the early Fords all being basic black. My 57 Meteor Rideau was 3 tone red sides, white between the chrome and rear fender with black on top. Very striking combo. The down side to white especially during the 50's to 80's here in the salt belt is that it shows the rust stains more prominently.
  6. There was a 29 Graham-Paige 2 door coupe in restorable running condition around Windsor Canada- Detroit Mi. area last year for $12,000. It had the "golf club door" but I don't remember the model.
  7. I always find this an interesting subject and I like I way you have dealt with it. It started when I was 17 in 1973 and I bought a 64 Pontiac Parisienne 2 dr hardtop with a 409 in it. I was told by so called experts at the time it was wrong, and transplanted out of a Chevy. I didn't care as it was a cool ride to me. As most of you familiar with Canadian Pontiac's already know that they used Chev engines/ transmissions and chassis. Years later after the car was long gone I find out that they did indeed put 409's in Parisienne from the factory and proof is available from GM Canada Historical Services. People have been changing out base engines for hi performance ones long before my time and it's fine by me as long as it's period correct. Yes it's nice to have a matching cowl tag & numbers, but don't become obsessed by a tin plate and overlook the car it's attached to.
  8. There is some Buick guys freaking out right about now. As soon as they see that tag you will probably get a lot of info. Have you tried buickv8.com?
  9. As a Canadian I miss the Meteor brand that was killed off years ago! Why? 2 of my early cars were a 57 Meteor Rideau 500 and a 56 Meteor Niagara. Does anyone else on here remember the 1960 Frontenac?
  10. I am dismantling a 66 convertible I bought for a parts car due to rust(and lack of ambition). Has a good 429 engine/400 Turbo transmission. Complete top assembly in decent shape. Front fenders & hood are decent. Recovered seats, Some driver quality trim. Car is in south-west Ontario Please e-mail me. Thanks urljive@gmail.com
  11. Changing of the guard. The local ones I've attended in the last 2 years are very weak on content and getting worse.
  12. My condolences to you. I read his story tonight. Amazing gentleman by the sounds of it. I hope you all have a good Memorial Day.
  13. That's a fair price for such a unique car. It would pay you to buy only a very nice FS as the cost of even a good quality paint let alone hard to find parts will quickly outpace the price of the good one.
  14. Can't totally decide between a 63 Cadillac Eldorado convertible I bought when I was young, poor, and too stupid to hang onto it or a 70 Chevelle convertible that I thought at the time (1976) wasn't worth another body job. I was wrong.
  15. It's amazing how long the distaste or out and out hatred of Vega's has lasted. I had the 74 Pontiac Astre GT version in 76 and it truly was a POS never to be forgotten:D
  16. What about The Studebaker Driver's Club? I'm sure they have a web page. Auto Trader, local paper, eBay, etc.
  17. I've been going to car auctions since 1970 with my grandfather ( I was 15) and still get a kick out of them. B-J is a TV show first/auction 2nd.
  18. So what is the average price for a "driver" 56-57 Continental? I mean #3?
  19. I believe a true survivor car is definitely worth more than a restored show poodle. A lot of people seem to get a bit irate when I say that. I attended a local car show last weekend and there was a 23 Cadillac Victoria coupe there in original paint/ interior/ power train and even a very bald Silvertown spare tire on the trunk. It had more than a few dings in it that were probably put there before I was born('55). It was gorgeous!! My friend was displaying his show winning 1919 Doge Brothers Touring car and his way over restored 37 Plymouth coupe that both drew a lot of praise and spectators. But the true old car guys were just stopped in their tracks, smiling at the Cadillac. Both him and I were very envious and happy to see a true survivor on display amongst the trailer queens. Very few seem to know how to UN-restore cars do they?
  20. I would take the 57 Lincoln if it's priced the same as the 62 Cadi in similar condition. I love Cadillac's and Linc's both but generally prefer Cadi's. The Mark II is a lot harder to find than the 62 DeVille and definitely a more sophisticated car. I would trade BOTH my 66 DeVille convertible and my 90 Allante' for a nice 57 Coni
  21. Seen this posted in London Ontario on kijiji Sure looks beautiful! buick roadmaster convertible - London Collector Cars For Sale - Kijiji London
  22. I agree that it was more than EFI problems that did Imperial in. A big one was the fact it was only a 2 door coupe, which I prefer but most earlier Imperials were 4 door.
