1. Check the Photo Gallery under Hershey 2006 Flea Market. I took a bunch of photos of toys from the red field. Maybe you can recognize the toys and the background.
2. Terry, how about posting a photo of this dealer emblem and that way we can provide some better advice upon seeing it. There are a number of alternatives. Chris
3. Uncompromising shots? I thought they were of just of a hard working Executive Director!
4. There are sealers that alledgedly act as barriers between old layers and new material, but for a collector car, I would strip the whole thing. Even with a few "rubles" out of pocket expense, you'll be happier in the end. The transition between new and old may even appear and then what would it be to re-do it. Do it right now. As a rule, I don't put good (new) over old. Chris
5. And who said antique cars can't go high-tech? Now I just have to figure out how to get a magnetic satillite radio antenna to adhere to an aluminum body. I'll be wandering the fields as well, proudly wearing my DF button! Friar

6 volt coil

A 6 volt ignition coil should not be specific to any particular make. I run Bosch 6 volt coils in 1920's era Lincolns without any problems. Make sure to use ring terminal wire connectors (lugs) and 12 Average Wire Gauge (AWG) from the battery (or ignition switch) to the coil. You could get away with using 14 AWG wire for the ground, but why? Use 12 AWG as well. The differance is the amount of voltage drop for an electrical system that at 6 volts is already low (3 volts while starting). Pay particular attention to polarity if the Oakland has positive ground.
7. The company CASCO was the Connecticut Automotive Specialty Company which is still in business today. These retractable reel lighters were accessories on mostly larger cars such as Lincoln, Cadillac, Auburn, Pierce Arrow, etc. CASCO was the OEM supplier and car manufacturers simply added them into the dash. The reel was 12-15 feet of wire and some of the tips are fastened with a bayonnet connection where the tip can be replaced with a trouble light. The knob at the bottom is probably a release to retract the wire. FYI, I have a method of rebuilding these for both functionality and cosmetics. Too bad both AACA and CCCA rules don't judge these. NHCarnut, is this CASCO for sale? Chris
8. Diz, I'll be there, God willing and the creek don't rise! Perhaps we'll have some Shoo Fly Pie or for some of us perhaps some crow, Ah I shouldn't have said that, definately fowl!
9. Have you tried Jahn's pistons? There is also a piston supplier in Ohio, but the name escapes me.
10. This story is starting to sound alot like the one of three well known plumbers and a movie they made, circa 1940.
11. Pint4, I use and recommend the Roll-Master from N M W Products. These are heavy gauge metal dollies, epoxy painted with ball bearing casters. I use them to move around my 4700 pound 1930 Lincoln by myself. Your Packard should be similar in weight. The decal on mine reads: NMW Products, 35 Orland Drive, Raritan, NJ 08869 (908) 526-3800. I did a search and they don't have a website and phone search revealed an address change to 10 Orlando Drive. I've had mine since 1995 and I wouldn't do a frame-off restoration without them. http://www.enjoythedrive.com/content/?id=10178 Chris
12. Karl, There is a reason why I won?t put any auto related decals on my trailer; I call it the Insurance Lottery. Let me explain. Traveling down the Interstate Highway coming up on an exit ramp, a small inexpensive compact car with 3-4 occupants is just about to pass you on the left. Suddenly the compact swerves in front to make the exit ramp, hoping that a small collision with occur. The car has extra blankets and sleeping bags for extra cushion for the occupants. The goal is to eventually have a settlement in their favor. In the event someone is fatally injured, the family collects. I have experienced this practice while coming back from the Cow Town New Jersey meet, the driver of our vehicle just missing the suspect swerving compact car. To me, decals are an advertisement that screams $$ and may foster this swerve and collect scheme. Buy the decals, just place them inside. Don?t mean to preach dome and gloom, but I would rather be cautious and arrive safe. I know what?s in the trailer and others will to when I arrive at the show.
13. Found this scale on the Web and thought it might help. http://www.sherline.com/lm.htm Also read some of his stories, similar circumstances! I think we're all learning something here.
14. I have a 24' Haulmark and it has box tongue frame. I use the Reese system with load leveling Weight Distribution bars ans seperate sway control. Its like novaman's, except I didn't see the sway "ball" on his receiver in the pictures. Barry, how did you measure the tongue weight of the Phoenix? I'm tending to believe it was too much weight, not too little. Also, a trailer/RV dealer who saw this thread asked why was the 2 inch receiver used vs. the 2 1/2 inch? Finally, any resolution why the brakes didn't come on line the first time? Was the controller rated accordingly (my electric controller has 3 weight class settings)?
15. Can we get the make and model of the Inverter and the A/C unit? Chris
16. Please enlighten us: What screws did they send you? Slotted oval, slotted oval with curved washer, or flatheads? Stainless or cad? Chris
17. I kind of like Toy Box as well, but some others to think about: Wolk on the Wild side, Wolk About Mark II, HaulMark II, or Ovalocity. Barry, can you provide us the make and model of the Inverter? Chris
18. According to the Lester-Steele Spec book, the 1931 Pierce Arrow model 43 has the following brake lining info listed: 32 3/4 inch length per wheel, 2 1/4 inch wide, 170 thickness (presumably this means 0.170 inches), Clearance: F, and 295 total brake area.
19. Mark, I think it would more helpful if you can list the make and model of these units. The same units are used for differant applications and unless you were a Dodge person, you wouldn't know. Like for Lincolns, a DELCO 193 A and C models were used. Chris
20. It's not clear what horn you're looking for, a 1930 Lincoln model L horn or one of the two horns used on a 1931 model K. The model L is a Klaxon with oval throat and the 1931 are round trumpet style from Sparton.
21. Hey Karl, Is this your way of "jacking up" the use of diesel or is it "pumping up" the Mercedes name?
22. memlane, Welcome to the AACA Forum. One suggestion is to also post your question in the Chevrolet section under General Motors Products. Good luck with your project.
23. I appreciate the square box suggestion, but as Barry hinted at, this is a place where it is easily seen and must be authentic. The box on top of the flat stock would show at each end two metal thicknesses versus none, and the curve of the box folding inward versus outward is also a problem. Seamsealer just wouldn't look right for this application. Thanks for the referral to the shop and the channel. Chris
24. Seeing the bending capabilities of that hinge, was wondering if they can make something called "Hat" channel as described in attachment? It is needed for a running board stiffner. Also, what is the aluminum edging and the source shown in the pictures (for a differant application)? How easy is it to form around the corner how is it fastened, nailed/screwed on the side? Chris
