  1. Notice the shape of the doors on the coupe. All of the US coupes have a rectangular opening. This appears to taper with the front being a smaller opening then the rear. Great picture indeed. Do you know what year these cars may have been?
  2. Looks like you need to pull the oil pan. I'd bet it sat somewhere and a mouse made a nest inside.
  3. Matt, where did the killer oil can come from with the DB wings?
  4. I agree with John. A Victory is a good 40 to 45 mph car that you will enjoy. The DBC is having a meet in Brookings, S.D. in June for a week. You would be welcome there and meet other owners.
  5. I suggest you go to the DBC club roster and find someone with a Standard for those pictures. A Standard is a pretty unusual car, not made very long in 1928.
  6. It's unfortunate the DBC site doesn't work and no one has been able to fix it. For example you have to be a registered member to use the site to join the club to use the site. Talk about the chicken and the egg. Most conversation not on this forum is on fakebook. I refuse to join that as many others do. I recently counted the first 70 posts there and went through the newest roster. Of the 70 only 10 were members of DBC. The rest were looking for and getting free answers how to fix their car so they could sell them for a profit. AND no one was promoting joining the club. I agree, Tracy does a very good job with the two magazines and has just taken over another for VMCCA. She's a busy girl.
  7. Al, it seems you are beating a dead horse. Apparently Jan is the only one here with a screenside. That question about brackets could have been engineering , penny pinchers, or just because. I posted that a screenside JUST won a AACA grand national. Look up the results and use your brand new roster to contact that owner. He used this junk roof and the blue print you have to build his. OR look in the roster for other screenside owners. There's an excellent one in California, Myers has one that I'm sure will be at South Dakota and a very original RHD at Meadow Brook Hall. . AACA library MAY have more literature or pictures that answer your questions. There's not a lot of literature for them, I've had my hands on every piece of it. Did you look at the 3600 Budd pictures on the DBC site? I know there are a few there.
  8. Al, it sounds like you don't have much to use to look at? I have a junk roof that was used to look at by the owner of the screenside that just won a Grand National award in AACA. This and the blueprint is what he used and it's perfect. I'm not a wood pecker so I would be hesitant to start too. I like visuals. If you want to make a trip to Hershey you can borrow it, that's why I saved it. It should fit in a full sized pickup bed or trailer. BUT, you will be required to stop at AACA library and look at our collection of literature. And the AACA museum to look at our Station Wagon and kid's truck. They are within a half mile of here.
  9. Sure is a lot of gray hair! Looks like a lot of work got done even with all the breaks for food.
  10. Doesn't look like it's near enough parts to keep a Ford running.
  11. There is someone writing an article for the DBC magazine right now on this issue. It is believed that every year of truck and car has different hubcaps even though they look similar.
  12. Early cars used a formula using bore and stroke. Had nothing to do with horses.
  13. A 1921 DB screenside won it's Grand National this weekend in Charlotte. Congratulations to the owners.
  14. I don't think he ever noted that John Dodge was VP of Ford. I've said for years if it weren't for the brothers you wouldn't have never heard of Henry Ford.
  15. I'm afraid it wouldn't show much detail. To be far enough away to get the whole width in the picture would fuzz it up.
  16. A look at the Engineering Changes describes this horn. It came with my '18 sedan, only used a short time. I don't have any extras to sell. The '18 also used the 10,000 distributor not 10,004, also used a short time.
  17. I was going to suggest looking into military use. Looks to have OD green paint. VERY interesting truck!
  18. The blueprint of the roof is about 24 X 36? I forget the letter size, maybe C?. I am currently going through Rodger Hartley's literature collection. He had hundreds of hand drawn pictures of STUFF, most with part numbers, what it fit, etc. Invaluable stuff in my mind. There MAY be a drawing of the mount, haven't found it yet but there isn't any in our collection. My fingers have been on almost every piece of stuff we have at AACA library. My suggestion would be to go through the roster that have screensides and start calling people. Lots of really good screensides out there. But I have never seen one in person with disc wheels. Not saying you couldn't get one. Just saying.
  19. There's a blueprint for the roof of a screenside available from the DBC. Call or email the AACA library to get a copy. Gives all the dimensions for the roof.
  20. I have found a few at Hershey. Most everyone thinks they are for Fords, but they are 12 volt. How far along are you with your car?
  21. Jeepers, I turn my back for a few hours and see what happens. So Willy, hope you get the idea. Most Klaxon horns are 6 volt, like for Model As. This bracket looks home made but it's not. Real easy to make if you have to. And for the wise guy both styles of horns are on my '18 DBs. Which one is Willy looking for?
  22. I was a millwright for 20 years. We lifted like this every day. With no oil pan the back strap would have been between crank throws, the front was at a good place. In a " basket" as this is he had the full 6400 load of each strap to his advantage. Ease up, Bluedevil did good.
