  1. Jay should have the motor mounts you are looking for too.... Tell him Tim Wolfe sent you. Yes, they do have rubber mounts in them. I think John sent you pictures I sent him.
  2. email astheime@ptd.net if you want this part or call him 610-863-6955 in the evening only.
  3. Midwest Brake Bonding would be able to glue new lining on. Bonding is much stronger then rivets. I did shear test for our engineering dept. while a foreman for a large press manufacturing company. Years ago they used a rivet machine. Also Kevlar is about the best lining material around, wears for a long, long time and doesn't wear the drum out. Cost more then brake lining--lasts probably longer then your car will!
  4. A company called American Arrow for the mascot 313-588-0425 in Clawson Michigan. Call Don Axelrod 617-598-0523 in Lynn, MA for lights. I'd hate to see a great car turned into a street rod when it can be saved, but it is your car.
  5. Restoration Supply Company in Escondido, CA has them 1-800-306-7008. I just placed an order yesterday from them. www.RestorationStuff.com info@RestorationStuff.com Good people work with.
  6. L & L Antique AutoTrim 403 Spruce P O Box 177 Pierce City, MO 65723 (417) 476-2871 Runningboard Moulding (aluminum reproductions) Gerald Landoll I've bought a couple sets from him.
  7. Pedals not peddles! I've got to start reading what I try to type before I hit send!
  8. I bought one from Steele Rubber and one for the peddles & steering column they didn't fit my car, they did take them back.
  9. A man I know restores old tractors. He puts them on a trailer and lets the chains a little loose and the tractor in gear after he puts oil in the cylinders (WD40 for example ) Then, he takes a drive on back roads. The tractors try to move forwards & backwards and he has good luck with getting the pistons to move. I've never done this but he has a lot of experience working on these old engines.
  10. Have you contacted any companies that reproduce wiring for antique cars? Rhode Island Red for example...
  11. Does anyone make replacement mats for 1920 and up cars? Not just a mat where you do the cutting, but with the flat area around the pedal shafts and gear shift/brake.
  12. Looks just like mine, built in 1929 (1930 model 70 brougham & coupe) Only difference is I do not see a heel rest below the starter pedal.
  13. Don't forget the leather u joint covers and the leaf spring covers......My car was in the restoration shop for about two years and they charged about $50 per man hour. This isn't a cheap hobby! I'm cheap but the hobby isn't! I was given a quote of $7,000 to do my engine. I had them pick it up and take it to a small shop in Piqua, Ohio and had it done for 20% of the first quote and he did a great job.. Shop around and get references..
  14. I was given a quote for $15,500+ to do my 1930 Chrysler coupe from a man who worked with a restoration shop. Went down the road and was told $12,500 and he didn't ask what body style it was! A friend who builds custom show trucks sent me to a small shop who had never done an antique car. Did an excellent job for about $4,500. Check around at ask for examples of his work and a customer list for references. I redid a 1953 Chevy years ago and will never do it again.
  15. Some tool rental places rent out deionizer machines that could be used to get the smell from mice/rats out of the car. Companies that do fire damage clean up should have one tool. Clean the mess out of the car first.
  16. Does anyone have information about carpet for a 1930 Chrysler closed car? I seem to remember an article about it a long time ago.
  17. If I am correct, non-detergent oil doesn't hold the engine dirt in suspension and it collects in the bottom of the oil pan(no oil filter-manuals say to remove oil pan and clean), detergent oil does and the oil filter collects the dirt. I have used diesel engine oil in my 1930 Chrysler since the engine was rebuilt.
  18. The top of my 1930 Chrysler tank was cut open and the tank cleaned and then resealed. Can't see the repair and used the original tank. This repair can be dangerous unless you are skilled and know the safety items to follow...
  19. Also, a cheap flashlight reflector can be installed in a tail light to make it brighter too.
  20. Had my reflectors done by Uvira several years ago and they still look new, lights are a lot brighter too.
  21. Jay Astheimer should have what you need-call 610-863-6955 in the evening (PA call)
  22. I have Grundy on my cars and can drive them when I want to. The value is higher then books show, but the car is a concours show car and they understand that. Had one claim years ago when a guy broke a door handle trying to get in the car without permission. They paid for the handle with no problem. Then they called to ask why there wasn't an installation charge, I told them I replaced the handle and they insisted that I send them a bill for my labor! They said that is why you have insurance.
  23. Looks exactly like the ones on my 1930 Chryslers. Good feather detail on the wings. Not a cheap part to replace. Usually the wing tips are broken off when you see them at swap meets & flea markets.
  24. The fasteners were carefully ground off the back of the dash to remove mine, I used epoxy to reinstall it. Try Emblematic ( I think that is their name ) They restore emblems.
  25. Forgot to mention, if you take one of yours to a local NAPA store ( or a large auto parts store) they might be able to match them. I had mine sleeved when the car was restored, it was very expensive.
