I saw you also received your 1st junior congratulations. Your Ford was beautiful. I will be knocking the car back to a do not judge status when I get back to PA in April. Like I said above I will no longer have any of my vehicles judged. Getting ready to take it out and through the Mount Dora canal later today as this car gets used and used hard.

Same here. Paperwork was filled out and came back as do not judge. Got to show field and the first junior paper and judging sheet was in the folder. Marked do not judge across it (per the judge) and placed it on the windshield plus talked to the judge who was there early checking fire extinguishers. Was told the car (Amphicar) was taken off the judged list. Went looking at the vehicles and came back and it was judged per my neighbors and the sticker. Unsure where the disconnect was? After 22 years of showing numerous vehicles in AACA clear up to the grand national senior status I will no longer have a vehicle judged. The meet was a very organized fun event with many great people as usual. We are glad we went. We are here for a Amphicar event in Leesburg with 15 of our amphi friends so we decided to attend this meet and glad we did.

I signed in today and got right in. Yesterday had to sign in twice and got the same message as above?

Your not alone I have the same issue. Started about 3 months ago. 90% of the time need to sign in twice and rarely can do it on the first try. Using Windows 10 PC.

Al Pruiett was the museums curator and from speaking with his one son got his start there restoring cars. That was the start of Al Pruiett & Sons which is now in Glenrock PA. I am sure they know a lot of the interesting behind the scenes stuff as on occasion we talk about some of the unique vehicles Gene had. The building was originally a Holiday Inn which my father help to wire as an electrician. Unfortunately I never visited the museum which I regret to this day.

That car was put back on the road by the owner and survives to this day.

Amazing what airbags can lift. Key to using air bags is to raise the vehicle slowly. Here is a friends Amphicar that sunk off the back of his houseboat, tied it up to his houseboat for the night, came out with his morning coffee and the tie line was straight down in the water.

Alexandria Bay (Saint Lawrence) a few years ago with a few friends. Land and water tour. Got a lot of looks circling the Bolt Castle and from the huge freighters passing by. Picture of the Singer Castle is our car. It is a 10 mile journey by water with no way out if there is trouble. Wife wasn't happy as it took a while to get there, plus she can't swim.

I have used the Lucas oil stabilizer now for approximately 16 years. I use a 35% mix of it with 90 weight oil for the Amphicar in both the water and land manual transmissions per the Lucas instructions. I always had a slight grinding when shifting on occasion however with the Lucas it makes the tranny’s shift quite and seamless even when cold starting out. Never tried it in the oil as Mobil 1 oil seems to work just fine.

I walk past one of my dads purple hearts (got two) many times a day as it is mounted in my shop in a display I made for him. Many don’t even know what it is or probably care. He made a right to check for mail after seeing a movie on deck when a kamikaze hit. Buddy that was beside him didn’t make it. He was in charge of launching the planes on deck. He never flew in an airplane.

Unsure who would restore one of these. Consider doing it yourself. You will have a minimum of 3 to 5 times the cost of what they are worth so many that want one just buy one already done. I do know a few AACA members who are currently restoring one as I have helped them out with some spare parts. I sold mine a few months ago to the person I bought it from. He wanted it back and I wanted to downsize a few vehicles that no longer get used. Good luck!

Restorer32 is correct that the liner could be aftermarket. I found my GM bed liner receipt from 1999 (truck sold new in 97) when mine was installed and I was wrong that it was bought and put on at the dealer. It was bought and installed at Sears which was very close to the dealer. My GM liner appears to be a correct factory accessory and carries the GM part number so did Sears buy this from the dealer and install it? Hard to believe that GM would allow an aftermarket company to clone one of their current accessories and sell it especially since they were still selling them.

My 97 with this same GM liner was sold new on 10/31/97 and before it left the dealers lot the liner was installed. I believe the price was around $100. I have the dealer receipt for this however it is in the truck which is stored at my other garage. Next time I am there I will get it and scan it. Possibly there is some decent info on it such as part numbers, etc. Finding accessory brochures or factory documentation for a 90's vehicle is hard to find if not impossible as they didn't have it unlike cars from the 50's and 60's.

I also would like to know the answer to the bed liner question as I also have the same exact liner in my 97 GM authorized Centurion Chevy 4 door pickup truck (only 3 doors available from the factory). Truck is 100% as it left Centurion and sold from the GM dealer lot with original paint, interior, etc. Supposedly under 50 were made in 97 with four or six 4 wheel drives made (I have). I am the second owner and bought it with 22K miles from a friend. Neither GM's or Centurion's build sheets show the liner but I have the dealers invoice installation for it. Thinking about HPOF next year.

Restorer32. Sounds familiar. My friend who owned a van conversion shop back in the late 70's had his employees install a new overhead console in a brand new van only to discover a dozen or so screws sticking out of the roof when they finished.

I just bought 3 sets of tires off Universal and asked the head guy in the office this very question and he told me they were not owned by Coker?

Work on cars long enough and these things happen, many just don't admit it and post for the world to see. If I were the OP I would check the radiator he removed, flush it out and do a pressure check since it appears to have been losing a small amount of coolant. Val and I are doing fine. Lots of projects, lots of things cancelled. Rented a cabin buy a lake for a week end of August. Taking the Amphicar. Self quarantining at its best. Say hi to the family. Did that twice (obviously once wasn't enough) in my 72 Corvette that I have had for many years. Both times left it in the radiator hose when trying to keep the coolant from dripping to much while working on it. I notice it was overheating while warming it up to check for leaks. Luckily the rag only moved a few inches.

Nice find! You will be very happy with this generation of truck. They will work all day long with very little issues and parts are readily available. Recommend adding a transmission temp gauge if automatic. There should already be a boss / plug in the tranny for the sending unit. Last year I retired my 97 4x4 Centurion (GM authorized 4-door Silverado conversation they only had 2 or 3 door trucks except 1 ton crew cabs). Over 100K miles with 80K plus tow miles and is still solid.

Unfortunately this seems like the new normal when trying to order parts regardless of how simple and generic they may be. I now try and find the part number before I call or go to the supply house and typically this has helped. I went through this last week when trying to get a power door lock relay for a 97 4-door Chevy Silverado C/K 1500 pick up which technically they didn't make and don't show up in any parts books or computers. They were made (4-door's) by Centurion and were GM authorized and dealer sold with supposedly 27 made this year. Same issues when trying to get generic parts for an Amphicar or CitiCar though it can be entertaining watching them look them up. " I had my patience tested. I'm negative."

Hard to pick just one. Have 300 plus tee shirts some dating back to the 70's. Here is one of my favorite car related shirts. The other shirt was underneath it is from TMI. I was there the day after the accident.

Their return process will easily give you a headache. I would wait a day and try again. Recently I have been buying a fair amount from them as they offer good, better and best plus OEM parts for newer vehicles. They sent me the wrong rear brake shoes for a Pontiac and after filling out the return process online they sent me the correct ones in a few days and told me to keep the incorrect ones.

Seems a lot us finally got fed up with dealing with many of the things discussed on this thread and got our own equipment to tow. Probably have 80K plus tow miles myself in the past 20 plus years. Sometimes if you don't have the time and it is thousands of miles it can be cheaper and to use one of the reputable carriers. Speaking of cheap (and dangerous) take a look at some of the trucks, hitches, load leveler bars, etc that some are using. I can't believe the number of people I see towing that are downright scary with their setup and knowledge of how to safely tow.
