  1. The more angular and stylized form is typical of post-war more than prewar.
  2. some dimensions would help. I think 1940 was the last year for an optional external trunk rack.
  3. 1956 Golden Hawks used the Packard Clipper 352. Normally aspirated, one carb. The 1956 Caribbean had a 374 dual quad. Now I wouldn't be surprised if someone worked a 1955 or 1956 Caribbean dual quad set up onto a Hawk, but not factory. The blower was used when they went to the smaller Studebaker V8 the next year.
  4. So a design with good looks but so-so performance suits you. in our time frame you sound like you should check out the Cord L29. Different emphases for different people, no problem with that.
  5. no, the CCCA cuts off with the Senior Clippers of 42 - 47
  6. The correct shadow cloth seats and fore and aft headliner seams are a big deal. This is a very fine car. Strange to put it on E-Bay.
  7. Sachs is a manufacturer - they are part of ZF, the transmission folks
  8. I believe the natural finish ones were factory clear coated after seeing how they fingerprinted
  9. I don't think the lawyers are letting this one come back I
  10. I'm familiar with the film, and some of the spots in it are recognizable, but this is the first time I've seen the route on a map. Might be interesting to walk up to a Paris car rental counter with the map in hand. "Yes, I'll take the insurance."
  11. The Taurus owed a lot to the 1982 Audi 5000 design.
  12. The challenge has been having one that can run at higher speeds (and not flat spot when parked). Don't expect these to be cheap.
  13. quite a few switched for the 1975 model year
  14. The concept has been worked on for years, and not just by Bridgestone. The military was interested for obvious reasons. It's quite difficult to come up with a material with the right hysteresis. Heat build up from the flexing is another issue.
  15. The driving lights turn with the front wheels
  16. The interior is to a highstandard but I'm not sure it's authentic in pattern. The hood has been "shaved" - script and hood ornament removed and holes filled.
  17. Can't judge size too well but is sports car a possibility? Limo jump seats were normally in cloth.
  18. I'd stick with the steel wheels and hubcaps. Originality aside, Cragars with a 170 seems silly - a sheep in wolf's clothing.
