  1. Here are some pics TrueSpoke came up with show casing their wire wheels with my center cap assembly creation. Actually they emulate the original wire wheel covers that came out in 63/64. Turbinator
  2. Your are 200% per right. Among the best rhythm group around and even now highly respected musicians. Steve “ The Colonel” Cropper was the band director not only for this band, but for the Stax Volt Studio in Memphis. If you like R&B and down home soul you’ll like ANY recording on the Stax Volt label. Stax recorded the soul/R&B giants in the 60’s. Steve Cropper still works to this day and connects with industry stars. Turbinator
  3. Between the two of them you could certainly light something up!
  4. MASS 9192, ADDCO rear part # is 934 but if it doesn’t fit Why buy it. Maybe Jamco ? To mount the rear sway bar under the coil springs so it’s tucked out of sight the bar has to be 29 1/2” wide. By mounting the sway bar under the rear coil you’ll need a coil spring compressor. A longer grade 8 bolt is needed and patience or luck. Putting the bolt through the backing plate for the coil spring, the hole in the plate, and the hole already in the control arm takes some good manipulation. Pic of the mounting on the rear. By the way my 63 handles very well with the front and rear sway bar. I’m not a hod rod type, but I like the safety features the sway bar pprovides.
  5. Sir, makes good sense to replace an easy inexpensive item like a rubber hose. Sometimes my depression era thinking is not economical at all. Like cotter pins I use them again if I can straighten them out. Hard heads take time to change. Turbinator
  6. The ADDCO 934 rear sway was not wide enough to install in the vicinity of where it should be installed. The bar was not wide enough. The bar was heated and bent 2” wider on each side.
  7. Bernie, I heard, but cannot say it is true, but a person has to send a Coker tire back to Coker for warranty claim. Whereas, Diamond Back is more forgiving and they do not require the warranty tire back for inspection. I have no problem with Coker. I’m just going on what I ve been told. I’m happy you have had good service with your Coker tires. Turbinator.
  8. Thank you! Very appreciate the information. Your tip on using a heat gun to make rubber hose easier to remove is a great tip. Turbinator
  9. Nil? There are some members of the ROA I’ve met ( including you) I believe to be expert on the finer points of accurate restoration. It is my opinion if you know the answer to a question then answer to the best of your ability. Let the person asking the question proceed with accurate information. Not to worry what others not in the know do with their car. I’m lucky in liking everything original on my 63 Riviera. I try hard to keep the car as original as I think it can be. I do change the wheels up once in awhile. The change in wheel appearance are my original efforts knowing the wheel is not stock. Since the ROA meet is peer judged bring your Riviera any way you like. ” It’s your thing for what you wanna do.” Turbinator
  10. Tom, you are 100 % correct it is a 1963 Riviera Dash pad. Turbinator
  11. Gents, though my brake system has all relatively new consumables such a brake lines, wheel cylinders, and brake shoes the Brake pedal went almost to the floor. The fellow that put the shoes on failed when he stalled the rear brakes to make sure all those little springs were fastened. Tom Telesco inspected the brakes and found the problem. Tom show me how the self adjusting brakes did not work because the springs were not fastened. Tom fastened the springs and adjusted the brakes and now I have a full brake pedal. For my driving style the drum brakes work just fine for me. I believe on going proper maintenance Performed by those in the know Should give you all the stopping power you need. Turbinator
  12. Generally, I would agree regarding engine mounts. My 63 was making a terrible noises when I would make an aggressive acceleration. Tom Telesco put a length of chain around the Driver side bottom of the engine. On my aggressive acceleration the engine noises have stopped. Turbinator
  13. Bill, actually I made a down right 5th grade error with the decimal. Playing too much football without a helmet is taking a toll.
  14. Tom, yes it is a 1963 reupholstered dash pad. I bought from another ROA member. Turbinator
  15. Kevin, thank you very much. The Tri bar spinner is not my first choice, but that is how they came. The tire a radial bias look rides and handles like a radial.Turbinator
  16. Tom, my tire guy ( now retired), but his shop keeps going forward suggested I not use Coker for specialty tires. My tire guy owns 9 running Alpha Romeos and was in the tire business his whole career. The reason my tire guy suggested others than Coker was he believed Coker used worn molds to make their tires. I just got some tires from TruSpoke who ordered through DB. I wanted 710 R 15 with a 1” white wall, but DB would not give me the 1’ wow on the 710 R 15. Well , Truspoke got the tire I wanted. Here is a pic of my latest experiment in wheel look for my 63 Red Riviera.
  17. Winston, tech question on dash pad color. I happen to have a beautiful silver reupholstered dash pad done by hand. Now, the silver dash pad came from a 64 Riv with Silver interior. The silver dash pad is light by its nature. I’ll get a pic to you of the dash pad. My curiosity has me wondering if the silver dash pad would be reflective. Turbinator
  18. Sir, I just replaced the valve cover gaskets with Fel Pro cork. I scraped the area clean and put on some wax and grease remover. Put down the new cork gaskets, put on my newly powder coated original valve covers. So far, no leaks/seepage. I like it fine. Turbinator
  19. Sir, by first hand telephone conversation with a gent from Washington state had a devil of a time getting a dashboard problem straightened out with OPGI. I’ve never purchased anything from OPGI. I’ve recovered a number of dashes myself including my own with a Dash Top. ( I have no stock in DashbTop) The product worked for me, BUT, you’ve got to remove the original vinyl from your dashboard. Otherwise it would be too thick with the old vinyl and new DashTop. It’s like wearing two pair of socks. Turbinator
  20. Winston, if you’ll remember I saw your “ The Judge” and your 65 Riv in Plano. Both vehicles are outstanding and I will say you go first class restorations. Sometimes I get the bug I can “ do this” myself. I’m not been trained as an automobile mechanic. I try to do all I can with AC included. The real truth is zJust Dashes burned me up when I called their office. Like a regular hard head I crossed them off. That is how I ended up with the plastic DashTop. Had the DadhTop cover been the least bit cheesy I would tried another approach. So far so good. Turbinator
  21. Fitzo do you have the 15” Buick wheels that came with car? Some of my customers need them when they change over to cast aluminum turbines.Turbinator
  22. Sir, in 20 years or more your dash pad and your car will look great. I installed the plastic DashTop in my 63 and I’m delighted. I took the original skin and got the old foam rubber nice and smooth. Had the paint matched at a paint store that mixes car paint. Primed the new DasHTop and it looks good. Twenty years from now I’m sure how the plastic DashTop will look as I’ve been long gone. For fun I’m going to reupholster an original 63 dash pad to see how it will turn out. I’ll post the new pad when I finish the job. Thank you Turbinator
