  1. Ed, remember 77 Sunset Strip? Kookie Kookie lend me your comb? Young fellow was always combing his hair? Bob
  2. Winston, thank you. I have matte clear coat powder coat I put on in hopes of keeping look better. Thank you for your input. Turbinator
  3. Gents, I prepared the surface of my valve covers and powder coated them, I’m in hopes they will be easier to keep looking good. Turbinator
  4. The “Sleeper”. Some fellows in my area in central Maryland would take a homely family sedan and put engine, transmission , rear end that would burn rubber on both wheels for a long way. You sometimes tell the front end sat lower and the rumble from the under the hood gave away the “ Sleeper”. Mercury had a sleeper known as The Maruder.
  5. outstanding! Got a big laugh. American malaprop and slang/jargon/ bad English are fun so long asI don’t offend the talker.
  6. Regardless and irregardless are the same identical words. Just like hisself and himself are interchangeable words. Yes, you can buy the genetic brand and save your own self money. Turbinator
  7. Paul, your comments are that of a man with good sense. You know what you are doing. Turbinatot PS All Sport has 4 way stretch vinyl at $29.96. A yard.
  8. Bernie, I think they good. Adds a sport flair to the sedan. Turbinator
  9. Ed, Eastwood has good products. I’ve used their rattle can paints with success. My luck with a spray gun is improving. Turbinator
  10. Ed, a very fine idea and looks good. Turbinator
  11. George, you’ve posted the same comment before and certainly can do so as many times as you like. The DashTop covers are not Cheap and make a very fine presentation. I have invested significant dollars in restoring my 63 Riv and please know if the goods look or are cheap goods they don’t go on my car. I believe Just Dashes are arrogant and not customer oriented, over priced, and painfully slow. Fortunately, gents like us can disagree and still respect the other man’s view. Turbinator
  12. Paul, some advertise shells as ready to install. The original dash board is the foundation you build your recovering job. My sense is the folks that advertise a complete pad does not have the strength or connecting hardware to hold the shell in place. I’m happy to be wrong, just my observation. Turbinator ps DashTop comes in black at no extra charge. paul, I checked out the QRP. Non returnable and no warranty. Seems the price point for QRP is a tad higher ($60 more) than DashTop. DashTop provides a warranty on their packing slip. See if DashTop is returnable. Being able to return, have a warranty, and less expensive could possibly important factors in a purchase. ( I have no vested interest in DashTop) Turbinator

  14. Art, I can replicate the Wildcat emblem you are talking about. $760? Not hardly. In the pics are my handiwork replicating the 63 TriShield and 64 Riviera emblem.
  15. Gents, could the “ dark charcoal “ be also known as “ Shadow Gray”? Im refinishing a set of Riviera rocker panel moldings in “ Shadow Gray”. I’ve been expertly advised “ Shadow Gray is the correct color for rocker panel molding. What is in a name? I’ve color matched with an original. If a customer wants it Shadow Gray, Shadow Gray it is.
  16. Ed, outstanding ideas! Your design creations are really good. Powder coating the vanes and webs, color thr background of the emblems to match the car could keep a man busy! Turbinator
  17. Ed, looks like an aggravating job getting that rascal out without tearing up your car. Thank you Turbinator
  18. Sir, I’ve used the DashTop on numerous occasions for my 63 Riv and customers. I found DashTop to have an direct fit as advertised. I “ tweaked” the fit with basic shop tools. I ordered the color red and the color match was acceptable. I had paint made up to match my interior and painted the cover to suit me. i can’t say anything about the other product as I have not used it. Good Luck Turbinator
  19. Sir, In all cases I hope it comes out for you with less destructive means. There are always new and better ways to do things without tearing stuff up. TurBinator
  20. Ed, the bolt that is there now is the only bolt in the world that will hold the bumper? I cannot see the problem in the pics very well. There is more than one way to do some jobs. I’d still cut the rascal out and find or make a facsimile of the original fastener. i will not say you are not correct, but I wouldn’t make love with bolt for long before I’d have to get it out. If burning it out is what it would take I’d shield the tank from the sparks. Turbinator
  21. NC, the red Buick emblem is from a 1958 Buick wheel cover. My 63 Riv is red so I thought the idea would be something different. Thank you for the compliment. Turbinator
  22. Well, From what I see I would take a cut off wheel and cut off the head of the bolt . Once the head is off the bolt take a punch/drift pin and use a hammer and the drift pin to punch the bolt out through the other side. If you don’t have a cut off wheel use a reciprocating saw with a short blade for metal. Use goggles. Eye Glasses are not enough protection for me. if you had an acetylene torch you could burn it off, but sparks and fire around a gasoline tank is risky. i gave you my approach. Turbinator
  23. Sir, IF you are in need to replace a very worn/ cracked 64 emblem for the turbine her is a home made one emblem. They sell for $18.00 shipping Free.
  24. Steve, personally the tune up chain is as strong as your weakest link. I’m certain your NGK plugs do what they are suppose to do when all the tune up components are in sync. There are many ways to get where you want to go. The forum certainly has helped me quite a bit. Turbinator
  25. Art, being mistaken and admitting the error at my age doesn’t smart nearly as much as when I was a boy in Math class. 🤓 Thank you for bringing the error to my attention. I’m much better at calculating ROI over a given time period. Turbinator
