  1. Bernie, it’s all about making the right decisions. I figured I could put the shocks on so I did it. It took more than an hour on my lift. Matter of fact it took longer than Ill tell. A lot less time than putting in a new AC system! Turbinator
  2. Take out the A Pilars if you are concerned about scuffing the side edges of the dashpad. A J clip fits in between the dash cover on the bottom lip metal on the dash pad frame. The J clip had threads in it. Bill showed a screw, probably a number 8. I think and I’m happy to be mistaken but the stock screw has a black rubber washer the fits neatly under the head of the screw. I’ve taken my dash pad out and recovered it and put it back. Turbinator.
  3. Eric, the cast aluminum cover that bolts to the wheel is one piece. The center cap that covers the hole in the middle of the wheel is the second piece. The two bar spinner is the third piece and the emblem that goes in the two bar spinner is the fourth piece . Four hex head screws hold the spinnner/emblem on to the center cap. if you are looking for 63 Tri shield emblems I have them brand new.
  4. Mike, I just wrote a note that evaporated. I have not powder coated any 64’s. I do have an order for a set of 64 restorations I can powder coat. Here are some recent 63’s I’ve powder coated. The new powder gun and curing oven help the jobs come out better. Cast aluminum is hard to powder coat, real hard. Touch up after touch up adds to the tedium. Fortunately, I’ve learned better touch up technique on powder coating. You just have to be c a r e f u l. Thank you for your compliments. Turbinator
  5. Gents, The emblems are 100% blemish free and never been on a car. $38.00 each or $140.00 four emblems. $5.00 domestic postage. PM me or call 443.386.7356 eastern standard time.
  6. Jan,I’ve used Tom Telesco at Classic and Muscle in Norwalk CT. Tom is the best. Tom rebuilt my carb and the increased level of performance is significantly better. I found his fee for the rebuild to be an outstanding investment. Turbinator
  7. No doubt shiny spikes look great. Having the turbines is like having an extra pair of “ shoes” for your ride. The turbines go on easy enough. It is a matter of taste and there is no arguing when it comes to personal taste. Turbinator
  8. Ed, before know it you are 3 tenths faster than the world record. Turbinator
  9. Bernie, have you collected and saved the hard data? The older we get the better we were. You have much more experience in autos than I have. Collecting data and using analytic tools to make a determination is tricky business. Now, politicians and salesman are quick with facts and figures. Statisticians, at least the honest ones, are slow to make statements without doing their homework. You get an A for beginning with ...” just an opinion.” Turbinator
  10. These are not NOS and have been restored. You can get two more from me complete. Turbinator
  11. Pat, I’ve learned how to powder coat the cast aluminum turbine webs and vanes. I believe the powder coat is superior to paint, especially the rattle can paint, the powder coat is strong on durability. Maintaining the powder coat I believe is easier than paint. Turvinator. Attached is a powder coat finish.
  12. TexRiv_63, How does this emblem look to you? Turbinator
  13. Bernie, my four post lift was money spent Idid not want to let go. Now, that I have and use the lift to work on the Riv it has made life much easier. Not easy, but easier. only problem I’ve had with the 4 post lift is you have to have a jack on the lift to get the tires up. Turbinator
  14. Mr. Konga Man have you tried the tool that uses a coil to heat up the fastener for removal? The tool is pricey and only works on metal that has iron in it. Turbinator
  15. Jim, believe it or not I put in new hard rubber I got from Tom Telesco on the track bar and the front suspension. The shocks, new rubber, ‘newly rebuilt steering box, and front end alignment made the car steer and ride much better. Front end alignment specs courtesy Tom Telesco was a big plus. Turbinator
  16. Tom, how minutes are in your hour? Turbinator
  17. Zimm, smaller world then we think. Thank you for recognizing my car. The First gen Riv’s were popular where I was living in 1963. Good luck on getting the vacuum switch at Gene’s. Combing ebay allowed me to get a “ new” 56 year old #1 vacuum switch a couple of years ago. Bob
  18. Ed, Toyo 225/70/R15 on the car and P215/75/R15 in the trunk. Turbinator
  19. Gents, I’ve made an error. The circumference difference is 1.8”. I have 225/70/R15 on the car and P215/75/R15 in the trunkspate.
  20. Mr. Konga Man, my wheel size width is 5.5”. The1/2” less in width helps. Turbinator
  21. Gents, my spare is a P215/75/R15. It is narrower than the tires on the car, but same circumference and aspect ratio. I thought it was tight, but the tire slides in ez. Turbinator
  22. Zimm, that was me and the Mrs going Frankford ( DE) just east of Bethany Beach. The AC has been working better than I expected. I’m really surprised I’ve come to grips with how the AC performs. I’m going keep watch and hope it continues to cool as it has. I’ve lost the thermometer to measure vent temp. I say if the air is cold enough for comfort that is enough information. Thank you for your observation. Bob
  23. Sir, I’m not that intuitive when it comes to visualizing how to some mechanical things. I put Bilsteins on my 63 Riv and the new shocks along with a rebuilt steering box. Helped a lot. It’s not hard just tedious if you mess up. DONT UNFURL the shock until you are ready to thread the shaft through the top hole. If you open up or unfurl the shock it will be too long and you’ll have to Muscle the shock in place to bolt it up. Double nut the top fasteners so the nut doesn’t come loose. Other than that it want hard at all. Turbinator.
  24. Yes Sir, the ventilation on my 63Riv does work good. Turbinator
