  1. Good looking automobile. The color is one of my favorite shades of blue
  2. Gents, it’s easy. Just loosen all he nuts and bolts and lift it out. Might as well change leaky heater core. Fog was coming up through the defrost vent and it was getting hard to see. Thought something was up
  3. Winston, hand upholstered silver with Seville pattern. Original dash pad and I kept the insulation. Honestly, I can compare with Just Dashes because I’ve never seen one. I think this job would compare favorably with many reupholstered jobs.
  4. Chris, you are on the team! First string. Turbinator
  5. Chris, keep up the good work. Happy to learn it was easier for you then me. My middle name is Hardway. If it is ez I don’t like it. Glad you figured it out. Turbinator
  6. The LED’s are nice. I put them through out the interior of my 63. Yours look good. Keep up the great work! Turbinator
  7. Tom, some place I heard, “ keep fixing it until it is broke.” If it is working and safety is not in jeopardy leave it be. it took awhile to figure out the adapter that went to the M10x1 threadpitch oil pressure gauge male connection on the back of the gauge. Fortunately, I got it figured out. Got black hose fitted on the copper tubing. Thank you Turbinator
  8. Mr. Konga Man, thank you for your insights. I’m not certain how my electric choke is wired. Since the choke works fine right now I believe I’ll leave it alone. Thank you Turbinator
  9. Ed, thank you for the explanation. I believe understand. Thank you for taking the time to explain. Much appreciated. Turbinator
  10. Ed, 100 % true. Now, I’ve got an electronic choke but my choke is not connected to the oil sending unit. Help me out here.. Why would I need the oil pressure switch and the electronic choke “ talking” to one another. If it’s obvious I don’t mind being dumb for a minute. Turbinator
  11. Here are pics from Kegart. Kegart gets all the credit as he showed me.
  12. I’m in the same boat as you regarding oil pressure switch. There are plenty of oil pressure sending units available new. I’m using my original switch that is 1/8” x27 thread pitch for my 401 block. I’m putting in a supplemental oil pressure gauge tucked away nicely in the ash tray. I’ll still have the idiot light. I added a brass adapter T that has two female 1/8” x27 inlets and one male 1/8” x27 thread pitch. The male of the T goes in the block, the middle inlet is for the copper tube pipe that connects to the gauge. The top inlet is where you mount your oil pressure sending switch. i have my engine out for rebuild, but I can find a pic of the hook up. It’ll be in another message. Turbinator
  13. Chris, I’m not a mechanic, but I try to do what I can. Me and a for real mechanic replaced lower ball joints in my 63 Riviera. If you knew exactly what you were doing it is just heavy work. If you don’t know what you are doing it can be close to impossible. Two of us did the job -one 73 and the other 70 year old men. We are not old, but we are getting close. I’m saying all this to say get someone who knows what they are doing to help you. There is a special tool you need to press the ball joint in place. Yeah, it can be dangerous and if you are by yourself and you don’t know what you are doing you increase the chance of accident. You won’t get old by casting safety to the wind. Turbinator
  14. We are lucky we can only drive one car at a time. zTurbinstor
  15. I’m not a powder coat expert, but I’m getting experience powder coating. Prismatic Powders has a phenomenal selection of colors for powder coating. Prismatic will send a sample of whatever color you want for $6. The sample comes in a couple of days. Turbinator
  16. We live in a plastic age and consumers seem to care less and less about what something actually is and more about how it looks, feels and performs. Very little of the brushed aluminum trim you see in a modern car interior is actually metal. The fastest selling "hardwood look" home flooring product today is actually vinyl Nobody cares. PRL Pete, your post on leather and American’s taste regarding personal consumption of goods is great. I agree “ Nobody cares”. I actually think Americans are looking for utility. The consumer says to themselves what is in this product or service for me? There are many examples I could give where Americans could care less how the goods services are delivered . thank you Turbinatot
  17. Most interesting gathering of data and charting. I have no answer to your question. I enjoyed reading your post. Turbinator
  18. AdamB, what Bill Riviera63 is telling you is 100%. I used the same shop to have my Sonomatic fixed up to play mp3 from my iPhone, etc. bought a replacement speaker for the original in the back seat. Sounds good enough for me. The sound cannot be compared to a modern day car, but it is still much better than it was.
  19. Pat in my working life I spent a lot of time creating and answering requests for "minimum specific specifications." The words reconditioned, refurbished, rebuilt, remanufactured gave me a fit trying to determine what those words meant. I'm no wordsmith; however, I got plenty practice trying to find the right word or phrase. In the used parts arena I send pictures of the goods so the customer can see what they are getting. So far, most of the customers are very good folks to sell goods. The couple of rough customers want to make you tell them off and tell them to go elsewhere. I just suck it up and move forward. 20. Mr TallJohn, thank you for searching out a tall order. Some of this information is real hard to find, but you went right to the place get the info. Thank you Turbinator
  21. Tom, I talked to a Body Fender shop owner, who has been in the biz most of his working life, about rattle can paint not holding up. The gent agreed that generally the rattle can paint doesn’t hold up as well as two stage cured paint work. The gent went on to say UPOL makes super rattle can products he uses for primer spot repair. I bought some UPOL aerosol primer and the stuff is really good. If, time and inclination to powder coat comes up powder coating is a great way to go. I powder coat the webs and sides on the vanes on the 63/64 cast aluminum turbines and they turn out real good for ease of care and wear. Good topic. Turbinator
  22. Ed, your response implies that all parts advertised in the Riview are reproductions. We both know there are used and reproduction parts advertised in the Riview. Some folks use the innocuous acronym NOS to describe a part. The NOS part could be slightly used, but look great and in outstanding condition. Once I heard an NOS item described as being in the original box it was delivered. Even better, one professional parts supplier said NOS is second quality or a customer return. I’m having a little fun here with this parts describing topic. I will say with say certainty “ Caveats Emptor”. With a little self deprecating humor “ A fool and his money will soon part” and some days I’ve lead the league in this fool category. Turbinator
  23. Doug, Gene has them call at 610-359-8901. Turbinator
  24. JFrame, the color I’ve heard for the 65 Rally Wheels is known as Shadow Gray. The rocker panels for the 65 are suppose to be Shadow Gray. I’m going on what I’ve heard from a person I would say is a 40 year expert on parts. Im trying help here with a piece of info you can go forward on. You probably know this, but different states have different customs and regulations regarding chemicals /paint, etc. I found a auto supply store in PA that will scan your color from a FLAT shaped item. The colored piece piece you want scanned must lie flat on the counter for the scanner. Sherwin Williams auto paint in Towson MD could not mix flat/matte black car paint. Can you believe that? They tried to mix the flat black but gave me a gloss black. Confirm with someone who is in the know on the ROA Tech specialist list on the Shadow Gray. Turbinator
