  1. Hi edinmass Do you have an oil pump in good condition to suit a 29 FH, if so how much do you want for it. My car has a 31 President oil pump ,which I believe will fit, but I think maybe I should use the original FE/FH pump. Regards John.
  2. The LWB FA President was used in Coffs Harbour NSW on a banana plantation to carry the bananas. It was then acquired and restored by Barry Helsham, it then went to Craig Robson who paired it with a Chrysler 77 sedan and used it as a wedding car, Craig sold it to Ken Roberts, or Robinson, who also used the pair of cars as wedding cars. Peter Limon then acquired it and used it as a wedding car. It was then sold to the current owner Doug Fulford. Aussi John 1
  3. Hi FJ I think the car had accident damage as the gearbox (transmission0 and bell housing was cracked. The mystery is that the frame doesn't appear to have been damaged, Perhaps the frame was changed. John

  5. Hi George If it's a President, the whole top should screw off. Dou have or know who might have a goo pair of 29 President front welled fenders. John
  6. Hi rex I should have thought of that. I require the early production. with the wide beads. I prefer wheel well fenders, but will accept non wheel well fenders, as I can add the wells. I also believe the FEs had wider wells, which, I would prefer. John
  7. Wanted FE-FH President a pair of front fenders. in fair to good condition.
  8. Hi Gary If you raise the compression too high in a side valve, you will restrict the fuel supply, usually 7-1 is high enough, but you can go a little higher. My two Presidents are 6.5-1 and 7-1 My Brooklands President is 7-1 has done over 30, 00 trouble free miles since 2002. I use 91 unleaded, here in Australia also have access to 95 unleaded and 98 unleaded. so the octane rating is not a problem. Nobody has answered what the differences are between the 29-30 and the 31 engines. Aussie John 1
  9. Hi Edimass I don't think today with modern fuels there is an octane problem. I run my cars on 91 unleaded, but we here in Australia have access to 95 unleaded and 98 unleaded, but there is no advantage on an engine with 7-1 compression ratio.
  10. Can anyone tell me other than the 9 main bearings, how Studebaker increased the horsepower from 115hp in 1929 to 122hp in 1931. Also the 29 FEs were available with 5-1 heads, 5.5-1 and 6-1 cylinder heads, but I can't see anywhere, that the higher compression engines, were more than 115hp, which they must be.
  11. I'm looking for interior corner lights to suit FE Studebaker President 1928-1930. Other model Studebakers or other makes of cars may be similar, see pic. I'm not fussed if they are not the same as the one in the pic. John

  13. Demountable would be bolt on wheels eg, wire, not wood.
  14. The Houdale shocks with the dog bone links appear to be mid to late thirties.
  15. You should check with an oil company. They should be able to tell you the quantity and also the type. I don't know what GL5 means, but you should not use modern oil in old cars as the chemicals damage some of the surfaces. As far as I know it should be a straight 90 gear oil, but check with the manufacturer,
  16. Dave Pattern in New Zealand may be able to make them. He would need a sample. If you are interested, I can give you his details.
  17. Frank has found a cam shaft, but still needs a water jacket cover, think the FB cover is the same as an FE. I'm not sure if he needs a fiber timing gear.
  18. As you are starting from scratch, you have the choice of a trunk as it was originally, or you can convert it yo a rumble seat.
  19. The pans were probably left off when the cars got older All my cars have come with engine pans I left them off my Brooklands President and have no trouble with the cooling, my 35 Commander has them and I will be keeping them on my 29 President Victoria. John
  20. Hi Rex You have a matching pair. You certainly have the market cornered on 35 President Roadsters. John
  21. Hi Rex I'm sure I've seen this car on the net over the years, I think I may have corresponded with the owner in the seventies. Also is that the car Ford Stoecker owned. I like the maroon wheels. This is my President double Twelve Brooklands car. It all started when I bought a book that had a photo of one .
  22. Hi Rex Wow that's a beautiful car. Some picas of my Australian bodied 35 Commander.
  23. Hi Rex Thanks Rex Yes I understand what you say. I have the same trouble. Do you still have your 4 seasons President Roadster. We don't have any in Australia, so I have never seen one. We did get 28 and 29 roadster, but once the depression hit, there were no more Presidents. I have two 29 President's, a Sports Tourer (recently on the front cover of The ASC Review) and a Victoria. Also I have a friend looking for a hubcap in any condition, to suit a wire wheel FA President. Please let me know if you have one. If you ever come to Australia, I would love to meet you. Regards John Grant.
