  3. Thanks BJ This is the best picture I have , The OD of the hubcap is 6" John
  4. Does anyone know if there are reproduction hubcaps available for the 1929 FE FH Presidents, or if anyone has repairable used hubcaps. John
  5. Hi Ken I like how you have highlighted the moulding on the top of your dash in a different color wood grain. Did you do this yourself. John
  6. Thanks Ken Your dash appears to be the same color as the color under my bezels. I won't have any trouble matching that color. john
  7. Hi everyone The most likely reason for body changes on Bernie's car are; most cars pre-war came to Australia as a rolling chassis. Imported cars with bodies attracted a high duty. This was to protect the Australian coach building industry. The Australian bodies were not always identical to the US bodies Bernie's car may have a TJ Richards body plate somewhere on the car, probably on the firewall..
  8. 1929 FH President State Victoria. Can anybody please tell me what the background color on the instrument cluster should be. Mine is white, but under the instrument bezels is cream. Should it be cream? Also my dash panel is a straight color, I see many cars are wood grained, Can it be either? Which is correct?
  9. I have a roll of material, I am told it is mohair, but it may be velour, it is a gold brown color. I have not seen it as I am in Australia. It is a large roll, I don't know how many yards are in the roll, but it would be more than enough to upholster a large car. It can be viewed and bought at Bill Oliver's Studebaker Parts & Service at 1440W .14th Street Long Beach CA 90813. Phone (562) 435 3782 /Fax(562) 436 9940 I am only asking $100.00 US for it. If you need any more details please talk to Bill Oliver.
  10. I have a large roll of what I believe to be mohair upholstery material. I don't know exactly how many yards there is, as It is in Long Beach California and I am in Sydney Australia. It is a large roll and would be enough to do a whole car. It can be inspected at Bill Oliver's Studebaker Parts and Service 1440 W. 14th Street, Long Beach CA 90813, Phone (562)435-3782. I am asking $100.00 for the whole roll.
  11. The pin is part of the cam lever shaft, not removable. I don't think it was metal sprayed. I checked it recently, the car has been on the road 15 years and is still good. The problem I have is the worm is worn in the middle.
  12. These were fast cars and would have been driven hard and fast, so a lot would have been lost to accidents. Studeq say everybody that wants one has one. Not everybody! I want one, but haven't won Lotto yet.
  13. HI Garry I had the same problem with my FH President years ago. I had the peg built up by a company in Sydney, called Flame Coatings Phone No. (02) 9557 43793, as it was 15 or 20 years ago, they may not be still in business. I also had the shaft built up with hard chrome, de-embrittled and crack tested. My 35 Commander has the pin with the bearing, I was lucky enough to obtain a new old stock shaft and pin, but that was over 40 years ago. Where does your friend live. Is he in Australia.

  15. Hi Garry Thanks for your reply I require a RHD steering box for a 1929 President Victoria the housing part No. is 222978, Studebaker housing part No. is 158684. The corresponding LHD housing according to my parts book is 158399. I have a RHD steering box, housing No. 262983, which is the same No. as the steering box in my FE Sedan. If the this is the correct steering box for that car then the part No. should be 157036 RHD or 156848 LHD. I have a friend who has a late 1928 FA tourer which also has the 262983 steering box Your steering box 222994 with a casting number so close to the other 29 cars ,must surely fit a car around the 1929 era. Later model Studebakers had roller bearing pins as does my 35 Commander Eight. As these are Ross casting numbers, perhaps it is not a Studebaker steering box, maybe a Pierce Arrow, or one of the many other cars that used Ross Steering boxes. With a conversion from casting numbers to part numbers, it would be easy to cross reference steering boxes and know for sure what is correct and what is not. Regards John
  16. Does anyone know if there is a conversion list of 1928-1930 Studebaker steering box housing casting numbers to Studebaker part numbers.
  17. Hi Your engine number will be on the left side of the block half way along, between the bottom of the cylinder head and the top of the water jacket cover. John
  18. Thanks Buffalowed Bill Unfortunately White Glove only have the chassis plate number tag. John
  19. Does any know if anyone is reproducing the aluminium plate that has written on it, The President, patent numbers etc. that attaches to the chassis under the front right side fender.
  20. Re 35 Commander front engine mounts. I used rear engine mounts from a 6 Cylinder Holden, HQ series,( an Australian GM car) for the front mounts on my 35 Commander. all I had to do to fit them was to drill the engine plate holes out one size and use bolts to replace the nuts and studs. There are several suppliers on eBay, with illustrations and sizes, prices are around $25.00 each Australian Check them out. John
  21. A friend of mine has a 1926 Studebaker 2 door coach, (I don't know what series), he would like to know what what the front seats should look like Can anyone advise him. Aussie John 1
  22. Thanks Mark my understanding of german silver, it is also call nickel silver. Cars with gernan silver radiators, usally use nickel plating for the rest of the bright work, so ity sounds logical that thje door handles were nichkel plated. If it's not the same, it is certainly a good subitute. Your help once again is much appreciated. Regards John Grant
  23. Can anyone tell me what the interior door handle and instrument surrounds are plated with on an FH/FE State Presidents. Aussie John 1
  24. Check if the chassis number is stamped on the bottom of the rear cross member. Aussie John 1
