  4. The British Pound is very weak now too. One pound is worth $1.22 USD. In May 2014 it was $1.70 An in back in January 2008 it was about $2.00.
  5. There were 3 in 1939, and more later. Of three in 1939, only George Bailey was able to qualify, although he did so in sixth place, the first rear-engine car ever in the Indy 500 race-day line-up. Of the handful of starts by these cars between 1939 and 1947, none traveled further than Bailey's 47 laps in 1939. Originally intended to run on pump gasoline, they featured side-mounted pontoon tanks, which proved to be very dangerous. After a pair of serious fires, the cars appeared in 1941 minus the pontoon tanks. http://www.conceptcarz.com/z19647/Miller-Gulf-Special.aspx
  6. Here's another Seagrave, 1923, 1010 cubic inch, 130 horsepower. Sounds good, runs smooth and very clean.
  7. Never been, but looks to be quite a collection. They have my car pictured on the wall in white.
  8. Did it come new from the dealer with the webers? I see the sales brochure shows fuel injection.
  9. Interesting. Kind of incredible. "By the powers invested in me, I do hereby appoint myself." Is that how it goes? And how did the Club's appointee to the Museum Board get removed? If he was the Club's appointee it should be up to the Club who has that seat. Now the Museum Board is telling the Club they need to appoint a replacement.
  10. It's only 2 to 2.5 hours drive from the general San Francisco bay area; should be plenty of members capable of the trek.

  12. Yes fair use is not a blank check, not fair game to scan and do whatever you want with the scans, certainly not scan then sell the scans for profit. But when I looked up scanned Google books online to look through a book i was never limited. I have not been limited to only small excerpts. I was able to just keep paging though the whole thing if I wanted to. I was not restricted to "snippets" based on what I looked at. Google’s unauthorized digitizing of copyright-protected works,...and display of snippets from those works are non-infringing fair uses.
  13. The Google book scanning project addressed this issue. Remember Google set out, as a goal in the interest of public service, to scan ALL books in all libraries to make them available to everyone. I have quoted (copied and pasted) from some Google scanned books in some postings on this forum, particularly regarding the owner who was asking about his old US built Fiat. U.S. Appeals Court Rules Google Book Scanning Is Fair Use http://lj.libraryjournal.com/2015/10/copyright/u-s-appeals-court-rules-google-book-scanning-is-fair-use/#_ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Google_Books
  14. You can easily set up email accounts under false names of course. A fake facebook account based on a fake email account. Facebook is mainly concerned about the number of users, so they can sell advertising, and the more users they have the more they can charge for advertising. Remember facebook was accused by investors of falsely reporting their number of users. An analyst reported they had many users with multiple accounts, many of which were obviously fake, and the stock dropped. Investors complaint was the inflated reports by the company of their number of users, including faker accounts and multiple accounts by the same person, was false information provided by the company, contributing to investment losses.
  15. They have very little info on what they did to the engine. Cleaned it, unstuck some valves and lapped them, stuff like that. http://www.livermorehistory.com/Project - Seagrave Truck/Seagrave - Photos.html Is that the oil indicator at 3:55 in this video? - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TaM2iVzFmEo Here's another - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KojcIlTwneQ 1927 Seagrave - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kUwz4VT6RKA
  16. Is this like your engine, it's a 1920?
  17. I bought a lot of new old stock trim parts 1967 Alfa Romeo for only $150 off eBay and it was listed by an outfit that lists stuff for people if they just drop it off and they take a percentage and handle the shipping too. It must have been items from an estate as no living Alfa Romeo owner would have done that. I felt guilty buying that stuff, picked it up in person. I would have given the sellers extra. I sold the NOS bumper for $1200 which was probably less than I could have gotten, and the set of hubcaps for $250, and am keeping the grill and a few other things. Together I think the stuff I got for $150 was worth $2,000+. It was listed as being used, needing polishing. It was NOS in the original factory sealed plastic bags, no polishing needed. If someone were to sell off my stuff I think items worth $300 would be gotten rid of fro $20. So I should time it well. Sell it off myself just before I get ready to be put in the home.
