  1. You may not need to pull wheels to remove shafts back enough to repair . But will need to pull wheels some day to service brakes .
  2. Will loan you puller if it helps . Just pay postage . Need pic and measurement of hub. Mine is heavy duty build by George McMurtry of custompullers .com Refer to his site good info on .
  3. Remove hub/grease caps and then nut and bearing on front . Wheel comes off . Rears can be a little harder . Bolted to taper shaft . You will need special hub puller . Do search on DeSoto /Dodge site . most mopars same . Pic would help many cars were married to other drive trains over decades .
  4. Here pic of the #62 drill bit in the idle jet hole just drilled . Also shows mini chuck needed . your well jet if factory numbered should be fine . There hole is a little larger then idle jet as both idle and running fuel passes though . Verified drill size with mic as no number is written on that I would be able to read .
  5. IT WORKS !!!🙂 Drilling out idle jet to proper size . Installed back on , one turn out on idle screw ,full choke and 15 seconds was running . Adjusted idle up and setting back and forth , nursed until warm . Then started with out any choke or pedal , just bump starter . Throttle response seems good . Acell pump set low still cold here 1/8th turn . Jon you were on money with inferior parts . Must now hook up cable and linkage and spark arrester . And tweak some more when outside . Many , many Thanks to all , for there input and help ! BB, Jon , John , James , 31 Ply and other I am sure .
  6. Late 20's early 30's Chevy Carter RJH_08 type carb . Model can not be figure without knowing jets inside , if red or brass tag is missing . Other may be better help .
  7. Some of vendors on top of main page have body panel capability . Also lot at some you-tubes on lead repairing . First you'll have to total remove rust to see whats left . Good luck and keep us posted .
  8. Yes ,nice collection . I am looking for a 11-120s on those long idle tube if this drilling did not work . But also am looking for 3-107s throttle lever and shaft assembly . Also 14-92s choke shaft and arm assembly . And three well jets , the small nuts looks like in center box , 43-53s ,43-15s and 43-43s . These latter parts are for a future rebuild of OEM truck carb . I donot see any stand pipes if you have any would be looking for 38-49s , for same project . PM if any . Thanks
  9. Found a second Carter paper confirming #62 drill is 11-120s . I checked my tube and was able to force a # 72 in and it broke brass chip out of hole . Then was able to finger clean with #68 drill . That to is to small . So chucked up #62 and mounted tube in floating machinist vise on drill press and hand turned down through to open it up . BB you's maybe wrong size too ,since came from same re-builder . Will start putting back together tonight , for another try .
  10. The parts sheet says lower hole is #65 and the spec tuneup sheet says #62 . What do you have BB ? You may want to check for a exhaust leak causing that pop-in on de-acceleration . Look for black soot arounf manifold and gaskets and all exhaust pipe joints . Cold air being drawn in expands quickly from hot exhaust causing, it .
  11. Great , The accelerator ones have 3/4" inner hole so , no good .
  12. Hi BB , that is wrong . Small hole goes toward bottom, called idle jet (not same as Well jet ) . On checking other unit direction /orientation does not matter , fuel surrounds area . Can you drill gauge that small hole for me ??? It should be #65 drill . I found mine to be miss drilled this weekend after getting in some bit number index . Looks like when drilled it cut and pulled bit in with out cleaning hole . Can see it some what with 10x eye loop . Now must find way to drill or ream it . The way it is has limited my fuel intake . So will try again after clearing .
  13. Looks like size of ones sold for accelerator pumps on brass bowls carbs . Of coarse I would have to check .
  14. BB or any one else . Do you have sizes of idle tube orifices ,for 209's 11-120s tube . The bottom jet hole and the upper larger air hole and inner tube dia. at reduced section . May tell if we are correct with tube we where sold on rebuilds .
  15. Wow , Nice truck . Looks pretty complete , but a formidable rebuild . The engine may have been change at one time . Other will know what is correct . Best of luck . And ask away on here for help . The DB and AACA community are the best .
  16. On here they saw it didn't happen unless there's pics. 😉
  17. I away pick up a thrown recaps along highway . And park on those strips . Does all good things listed above . Also but a covered roof vent and a floor vent in . This improves ventilation to stop painted wood carriages we store in from molding , rusting and shrinking in hot sun .
  18. I guess by parts list it should be 11-120s . My replacement has nothing on it . Chris what is small hole size on yours ? i believe sheet says tube jet hole is 62 on one and number 65 tube on another . I do not have drill size index . Upper hole is much large may as well tell that also . I am going to get index to check .
  19. Thanks Jon for you input . My question when you say sealed top and bottom to casting . Top I understand , bottom not . Does it mean where tube goes thought casting to well or tube's seat/ plug sealing very bottom by threads ?
  20. Good to hear . Did you ever test for leak at top of tube , where it contacts casting ? i pulled mine yesterday and it has proper 43-61s jet and no leak at top . All passages are clean . Iam lost for now , also .
  21. Chris , do not forget to check that seal on top of tube also . while off a little squirt of carb cleaner down will tell you . The extra air in the circuit can not help .
  22. Yes , No luck it did pop once when pumping throttle . No gas smell . I do not believe you have to worry about your choke going all the way down . but would be more important to go nearer top to choke out and assist idle circuit . Mine does not touch either top or bottom , but is close to top . Keep us posted .
  23. Can you get pic of face of correct well jet ? Remember . my carb trouble is same as yours now ,no idle circuit .
