  1. Don't know how difficult they are to find. I did see a pair of nice reasonably priced '26/'27 rear fenders for sale at Chickasha swap meet a while back. I only needed the RR for my '26 roadster. The seller understandably didn't want to break them up so I passed.
  2. I have a Phinney Walker keyless rim wind which looks very similar to the "Buick script" and "Keyless" clocks shown. As IFDPete stated, "Patience is your friend here." On my example, the brass inner case has a crack in it where the bezel threads to it and was difficult to remove. The patent dates on my Phinney Walker date from 1907 to 1912 on the dial face and from 1908 to 1915 on the back of the case.
  3. Sad to learn of this. Met Dave with his '38 Studebaker on the field at Hershey last year. Was cheerful and a great guy to chat with. Enjoyed reading his postings here. He will be missed.
  4. X2 suchan, White walls on straw or Tacoma cream wheels are like gilding the proverbial lily. Would look much better with black tires. Landau irons are upside down. Nice Model A for the price. Cowl lights were only standard on the '28 Town Car, '29 Cabriolet, Town Sedan and Town Car otherwise an add on.
  5. F&J, you bring up a good point as to why advertising would be on a bedroom alarm clock. Looking at the logo under magnification, I don't see any evidence of post application. Logo printing appears to be the same high quality, shade and reflection as other features on the dial. But hey, I was given the clock for free and being cast iron it certainly has some heft to it. Oh, it does run and the alarm works. 😀
  6. This is the closest I will ever come to owning a Stutz. 🙂 I picked up this cast iron "Stutz" logo alarm clock at the Fountain Hills, AZ clock and watch regional yesterday. (Think swap meet for clocks and watches. ) No markings outside or inside as to the actual clock movement maker. The only markings on the back is a 4, 14 which I believe to be a date mark of April 1914. Anyone seen anything similar to this?
  7. Thank you pmhowe for the information on your 1928 Packard 526 drive line.👍 I couldn't find a photo or drawing of a Packard chassis with a clear view of the drive line to confirm this myself.
  8. Apparently this sub forum sees little use. Thought I would post in the Packard specific forum first rather than the General Discussion.
  9. For some reason, Tom Laferriere's 1921 Packard roadster appeals to me. If I only had the extra space.☹️
  10. X2, The reveals color is not correct. The shade of green seems to be off. Below is a picture of a 1930 Kewanee and Elkpoint green Fordor which were correct factory colors. Wheels typically matched the pinstripe which would be apple green rather than Tacoma cream as show. For '28 and '29, Greens would have been Balsam Green / Valley Green, Vagabond Green / Rock Moss Green. 1929 Below, Vagabond/Rock Moss Green.
  11. Did Packard employ the torque tube drive or the open drive line (Hotchkiss) system?
  12. Restorer32, If chrome is actually clear, why is there a color cast difference between a chrome plated part and a nickle plated part? If one compares a nickel plated part next to a chrome plated part, the nickel part will have a soft almost silver like appearance whereas the chrome part has a colder bluish appearance.
  13. Just don't forget you have rags in there like I did when I prematurely cranked the engine over and the rags jammed in the triple gears. Spent over an hour digging out rag fragments with needle nosed pliers and tweezers. ☹️
  14. At some point in the past, a conversation went down like this. "Is that car for sale?" "No, I'm going to fix that up someday."
  15. Ok, my experience with gasoline and old cars with vented gas caps is water can be introduced to the gas tank through the vent hole in the gas cap during conditions of high humidity and cooling off at night creating a slight flow of humid air into the gas tank. The water vapor will eventually condense and end up at the bottom. This is why some sediment bowls have a drain valve on them to drain off any accumulated water in addition to any sediments. Pure gasoline or gasohol, water can still get in. Where am I wrong?
  16. Sport Coupe. The top is fixed and does not fold down. A convertible cabriolet does not have a visor.
  17. Wheels and front bumper are from a '28 / '29. Appears to be in great shape for the price. More pictures would be helpful.
  18. I Always find something of interest when browsing through this 1926 edition of Dyke's Automobile and Gasoline Engine Encyclopedia.
  19. Am thinking the camera's internal electronic image stabilization has something to do with this.
  20. X2 on what Matt posted only I ordered mine from Restoration supply. The material is called Nitrophyl. "Used to replace old cork floats. Machinable and impervious to gasoline."
