I had an old pickup truck when I lived in Maine for towing the Ford T and for plowing in the winter. Plowing is one of the most abusive things that you can do with a truck, and driving in very slushy salt was just as hard on everything. There were garages that would spray the bottom of your car with used motor oil at one time but the EPA sorta put an end to it around the time Fluid Film Came out. I had that truck done every other year and it was still pretty solid at 20 years old when I bought a new truck and moved south. It’s a good product so long as it gets redone every so often but should last a very long time on any of our collectible cars... The rest of the story is that I worked for a major supplier of snow and ice equipment in a manufacturing engineering capacity and not getting to work on snowy days was not very acceptable, we even had a few good jokes about it...

I think it is missing the mounting for a flashlight bulb which is just around 6volts... Also missing whatever held the flags but the long screws and the washers are to mount it through the radiator and not cause it to leak. I agree that box is cool 😎 I’m guessing by the little ridges in the back that it held 5 flags, so it has enough mounting pieces and flags for two. I have just the lady, it would be nice to know what held in the bulb.

Even now there’s times I ask myself, do I want one of “these” in the garage, or four of “those”??? It’s usually a hard decision but in this case I’d go for the Cord... or better yet there’s a Brewster Ford for sale now which I would love but can’t afford... On the good side, they have my connecting rods done for the Pierce and I have a lot of work to do now. It makes being broke a lot easier...

I have a nearly if not identical one in my flea market boxes but have thought it was an aftermarket item. I also have what’s left of the metal strap, chain, and locking parts. I hope you get an answer and someone is looking for a pair! Thinking about it for a second mine must be slightly different to hold the metal strap underneath... I’ll go digging at some point to see

I thought that same thing, but you never know how quickly the seller wants it sold. On the other side, it could also be another CL scam... I certainly would drive to see if it was real and look the paperwork over carefully before wiring cash...

Funny thing, you can see that sign I mentioned in the windshield on the picture above, I was under the impression that it was placed on the roof.

Definitely one of the commercial Studebaker cars, and a great photo! I had a bronze sign once that said “Funeral” on one side and “Ambulance” on the other with two pins so it could be placed in holes just above the front headliner Making one of these do double duty... It was bought for a Henny but came from a Studebaker guy.

I had a 24 Special Six many years ago and it was a beast of a car. Good quality and fast enough to go with highway traffic, only thing you had to keep in mind is that it only has two wheel brakes on tall skinny tires... This is a very similar car and in great original shape! Good luck Linus!

I should know better too, but it was so far out of left field in both descriptions and price that I really thought it was a complete novice and not one of the thousands of predatory yahoo’s out there... I would think it’s a mirror mount for a sedan or something with a fixed door or windshield support like a truck or depot hack.

As I recall, the one for 29 is a pot-metal “Winged cap” where there are a couple different thread sizes inside... is that it? If so you should add the thread size to your post. Pot-metal from this era is the worst for stability issues and you would be far better off with one of Don’s, hopefully someone will know how to get ahold of whoever took it over.

This is a Model T cap, the threads are around the same diameter as yours (1.978”) and there’s 18 threads per inch. The height of the threads on this one is 7/16, so you should be able to fit it using two flat gaskets or a large diameter o-ring. I use a fat 2” od o-ring on my T And it gives me a little adjustability on where the dogbone points... I think 7/16 long threads are pretty standard for the T, I have a couple radiator necks and that is about the depth of the threads. If you find A shouldered cap like the one under the bunny the gasket could be under it, but I think it’s better inside your neck. Good luck!

I can check tomorrow, but that is pretty close to the same thread as a Model T Ford used, which means you should have no problems finding an aftermarket cap that would fit your neck. You would also want to use a flat gasket down inside your neck for it to seal against which you can make or get through one of the T parts vendors.

We spent our day preparing for the hurricane and then mounting the carousel rounding board which was turned into an Automobillia item which leads into this post... Earlier I had posted pictures of a Carousel panel In another thread which I had used an image stolen from the cover of a child’s book as a way to reflect my own car interest. From that posting, Terry Bond gave a great history of the book image and I thought it could become another thing to discuss. So, here’s a picture of the panel mounted in my living room, and the book where the image was. I’m also showing two “Uncle Wiggley” books with auto related covers, and a very scarce Ford sales book from Canada that was given out so that Children were part of advertising the Model T’s to their parents. What other children’s books do you have??

What application? Is this one of the chain drive style ones?

It would be interesting to know who else had guessed it... A very unusual vehicle that I wasn’t sure if it was a T head engine, my question earlier was to determine if it was a White, they switched to truck production for the war and never produced an AUTOMOBILE again. I remember seeing one in the 70’s and it would have been in New England so maybe RI... not really sure now. You really found a true gem in n the rough Ed!
