  2. The original muffler fits 1934-54 all models. It is a little over 34" long. You probably could have found one. I have a NOS exhaust pipe $50. I have had several customers with problems with mail order exhaust systems. 641-648-9086
  3. Gee Chris, thanks for the compliment. My long gone uncle would have asked "Funny strange or funny Ha ?" I have a NOS genuine GM pinion seal $35 $ $8 postage. 641-648-9086
  4. Your best bet is a complete running parts car. That way you will have everything you need and know what needs to be fixed before the transplant. You might get lucky and find one with power steering which is darn nice to have on a '58. Good luck!
  5. Front is for a 25 series. Rear is either 26 or 29 as there are holes for mouldings and 25 series did not have mouldings. Any numbers written on the inside ?
  6. My parts book shows 2 wooden wedge blocks in both the front and rear main bearings. I do have some of these blocks NOS @ $4 each. Call me if you want to order them. Kurt 641-648-9086 Thanks
  7. There are wooden wedges in the crankshaft bearing cap. Do they have them in place ?
  8. FYI: Pontiac used three different bodies in 1941 so just because it is a 1941 Pontiac fender does not mean it fits all of them. Either check the part number and style number in a Pontiac parts book or do some serious measuring to be sure which model they fit.
  9. 497109 dipstick fits 1935-1952 all except 1940-1948 8 cylinder
  10. Fuel pump kit, call Kurt 641-648-9086 Thanks!
  11. Aftermarket upper cylinder lube system. Apparently some previous owner felt it was needed.
  12. .My '56 still has the grease pencil writing on the firewall also.
  13. In 1956 Pontiac made the Star Chief which was the top of the line, then they made the Chieftain 860 and the Chieftain 870. The 860 was pretty bare bones and the 870 which yours is had more chrome and deluxe features like the Deluxe steering wheel and the hooded tail light bezels the same as the Star Chief. The D after the style number means it is an 870. You should rebuild the fuel pump with today's materials that are not affected by ethanol. I have these kits available for $69.50. Also, I would recommend joining POCI, the national Pontiac club. They have a great monthly magazine, many local chapters, tech advisors etc. Bring this car back to life and you can drive it anywhere with no problem keeping up with the traffic.
  14. Looks like a nice car, however the seats are not original. That black vinyl is not correct. Also, Gulf tires were never original equipment tires. Looks like a rare find, but not quite as original as it appears. Also, please look at the style number on the firewall and let us know if it is a 56-2737 or a 56-2737D.
  15. I have NOS rear quarter panel long mldgs for this car. Kurt Kelsey 641-648-9086
  16. Erik, The man you need to talk to is John Armstrong. His email is: jarmst2@columbus.rr.com The car is about done. Kurt
  17. I have recently manufactured fuel pump kits to rebuild your pump. $69.50 & $7 postage in the US. Visa, Mastercard, Paypal all work for me. Kurt Kelsey 641-648-9086 kelsey@prairieinet.net Thanks!
  18. I would not use a NOS flex hose as they are not compatible with today's gas. You can use a pressure union fitting on the old fuel metal line to match up to what you want to hook to it. Check the fitting section at your local autoparts store.
  19. I have a nice used 1953-54 Pontiac 6 cyl intake/exhaust manifold. Uses 2 bbl carb. $500 & shipping. Kurt Kelsey 641-648-9086
  20. Glad to hear you are going to join POCI. Be sure to join ETC also. I'd suggest buying a shop manual. Ebay would be a good place to find one. It will be a big help on many problems and will have a wiring diagram in it. The shop manual will tell you how to trouble shoot your fuel gauge problem. I do have a large inventory of NOS parts for a '40. Kurt Kelsey Antique Pontiac Parts 641-648-9086 Thanks!
  21. You can call right now if you like, otherwise call tomorrow and if I don't answer you can leave a message and I'll call you back. Thanks!
  22. The sending portion is part of the assembly, does not come off the cable and is not serviced separately. It screws into the cylinder head on the back left corner.
  23. The temp gauge is the same for 6 cyl and 8 cyl in 1936. I have a NOS one in the original box @ $150 & $8 postage. Call me if you would like to order it. Kurt Kelsey Antique Pontiac Parts 641-648-9086 Thanks!
