  1. If you have not had the bolts holding the two manifolds loos, DON"T. Leave them alone as they will probably twist off and then you will be in DEEP do-do. Just take them to a machine shop like I suggested and let them work their magic. Then when they are nice and straight, you will be able to get them to seal. I have done this many times with many cars. If you need another gasket set, give me a call 641-648-9086. Good luck!!
  2. If you haven't done so already, you should take the manifolds to a machine shop and let them plane the surface so it is completely flat and straight. Then they will fit up to the block and seal properly.
  3. Pontiac's first automatic choke was in 1935. A good way to check for a vacuum leak is to spray starting fluid around the vacuum lines, when the engine speeds up, look for a bad hose or connection in that area.
  4. I don't make anything off it, but I do belong to ETC and everyone with a 1926-54 should also. It's a great bunch of people and you get a monthly newsletter with interesting articles and ads as well as a roster listing members and their cars. People are willing to spend thousands on an old car but are not willing to spend $25/year to belong to ETC, however they use this site and the knowledge ETC offers. The ETC website is under construction right now so if you would like an application, call me 641-648-9086 with your name and address and I will be happy to send you an application.
  5. I have fuel pump kits, compatible with today’s gas $74.50 & $8 postage. Same fast shipping as with the thermostat. Kurt 641-648-9086. Thanks!
  6. Us northerners as well as the Pontiac Master Parts book call them fender skirts.
  7. This ETC member, Huck Mundell 802-464-2042 has a 1935 radiator for sale.
  8. You will probably want to rebuild the fuel pump. I have recently manufactured kits that are compatible with today's gas $74.50. 641-648-9086
  9. Yes, that is a '48 pump. If it is good, use it, if it leaks I have a fresh rebuilt.
  10. If you use the 49-54 pump, the shaft is too long and your fan blade will hit the radiator If the '48 engine was in your '35, it should have had the 37-48 pump on it. Post a picture and I'll tell you what it is.
  11. If you are putting the '52 engine in a '35. you need a '37-'48 water pump and mount it like I suggested. I have a fresh rebuilt pump @ $145 exchange. 641-648-9086 Thanks!
  12. Engine 1 is a '52 and engine 2 is a '48. In order to use the '48 pump on the '52 engine, you have to drill and tap a hole. It's been 30+ years since I did it, but I know it will work. Just hold the old pump to the newer block, line up what you can and you will figure it out. The casting numbers on cylinder heads are not the same as part numbers and Pontiac loved to change numbers. The head will fit. Good luck.
  13. Was this planned for a '38 woodie in Kansas?
  14. Pontiac used the same diameter shaft on all cars for years, just different lengths.
  15. Here’s a picture showing the internal parts. You need to figure out what you need so I can see if I have them. You can call me 641-648-9086. Thanks!
  16. I checked and I do have a NOS one. $65 & postage. There are small parts inside the rod and if you have lost them, we will have to look for them as well. Kurt 641-648-9086
  17. Looks like the steering connecting rod. commonly called the drag link. I have alot of NOS parts for 1949, I'll see if I have one of these.
  18. I think you have done a good job so far on your car. I don’t want to be part of the “correct police”, however the one thing I think that would really improve the appearance of your car is to get a set of standard bumper guards. Someone must have taken them off your car. The right front and the left rear are the same and vice versa. The ones on the corners are called “wing guards”. They are not interchangeable corner to corner. Sorry, I don’t have any to sell you.
  19. I have fuel pump kits, recently manufactured and compatible with today's gas. $52.50 & $8.30 shipping. Kurt Kelsey 641-648-9086 Thanks!

  22. I have Coker radials on my '56 and would NEVER go back to bias ply tires. I drives much better and does not want to follow grooves in the highway.
  23. Yes, I would have suggested the same solution. I have them in stock, give me a call 641-648-9086 Thanks!
  24. It is a '46. Tailights are not '42 and fender mouldings msake it a '46. '47's did not have fender mouldings.
