I don't have experience with that pump. For '55 only the convertibles got those pumps. My hardtop has all electric windows and seats as opposed to electric/hydraulic. As far as diaphragm pumps; you are correct that, the flexible material will eventually breakdown... It seems they breakdown more often when NOT used regularly. Certainly, with three pumps you could make one that works... If the diaphragm cannot be had; perhaps, one could be fashioned from suitable material...

only convertibles have leather. I have a show room color and fabric album. Perhaps I can help ..... What does your data plate say? Generally the two door cars got the fabric with geometric pattern. And the four door cars got the fabric with brocade pattern.

My general observation has been the the steering column is the same color as the lower dash. Mine lower dash is white. And the steering column is white along its entire length (including in the greasy engine bay)

I have speedometer error. But, the odometer is dead accurate by the mile posts and the GPS. Speedometer error can be caused by wrong tire size. But, a speedometer can also be wrong with correct tires and gears. When the resistance is not correct on the speedometer head.
