I learned to drive with a 1957 444 in California. Then got a 445 Very strong little cars and fun. I don't think there are any early Volvos here in Poland I do have a ton of new engine parts. Pistons, bearings, head gaskets like that
Unless your planning to 'STAND ON'' the horn for several seconds just wire it in and use it. My sound like a ruptured owl but horns are supposed to be loud!
Oil has gotten strange...... things we all sware by we now sware at..... I have several drums of this and am very happy with it in all our stuff Fischer Brand | Classic Car Motor Oil | Products Ray is a good guy and has tried to do his best to provide us with something that works........
When I got my Speedster it had sat years in a warehouse .... there was honest 3 inches of gray milky crap in the sump. I checked and cleaned it and thought..... can't get worse so started and drove it. It was OK no more water in the oil...... glad I didn't start it! Clean it all and enjoy your ride but remember you don't have a ''high speed ride '' there.
Hi Steve The rods are OK as long as you don't rev the car Also if the previous owner drove the car with respect too Problem is there are very very few cycles between cracked and broken. There is an old racer's trick ...... push the rods side to side if they move easy the bearings are pretty much OK
I ended up taking out the key/coil arrangement and replacing it with a conventional system ...... th original coil had a bunch of green muck in the socket...... this was in a rest area in Germany and lucky I had packed the items needed Pull the coil wire and have a look:)
Several years ago when my Dad was still alive we were talking. He asked "What kind of Ferrari was that you found?'' 'Testa Rosa Pop'I said. "How much is it worth today?'' He asked I explained 'Several mlllion dollars....' ''I should have loaned you the $1000'' he said and how many times since have I said to myself ''Yes Dad'' True story car sat on Alaska street in Torrance ..... Shop foreman's car in a plastics plant CPR
Use Semi-chrome brand polish a new (unused ) diaper and then clear paste wax over If it gets really dull then BrightBoy brand but it is aggressive please don't cut into your plating
It is frustrating having your car 'Judged' when they know nothing about it and never seen one. I did win two trophies at a concours even after telling the Judges not to bother.
OK Understood that was the reason for my first post. Some times things that seem simple/easy just are not. I have the factory here in town. Sometimes I import filters from the US it's just easier.
And Please tell me ...... What is wrong with buying rubber and cutting it out yourself? I thought it was a pretty good suggestion. I have to make all my gaskets here by hand. OK I've a man that makes the head gaskets but everything else is made by me..... I have an US friend to send gasket supplies. Old cars ain't easy in the East
