  1. GOOD DEAL. Please say thanks to him from this old hillbilly. Ben
  2. Body off. I really admired your car at the Nationals, Fred. Job well done. Ben
  3. What engine? What tranny? We really need more information. Pictures sure would help. Ben
  4. 1930, I have a Wayne Dalton . It was installed about ten years ago. The only problem I have had was installer caused, and still only showed up after about five years. Good luck Ben
  5. You might try SMS. They are in Oregon, I believe. Ben
  6. Yes it does. I am very happy with it. I just drove from Missouri to Concord, NC and back. Ben
  7. Brian there are only four rings, for the intake only. Ben
  8. Less than a second for me. Ben
  9. The only stupid question is the one unasked. Welcome and don't be a stranger. Ben
  10. bkc, do you have a shop manual? Your questions will almost all be answered in there. But for now, crawl underneath the car and clean off the bottom of the differential[rearend]. You will find a number stamped there. Probably a 4 with a - underneath it and a 1 or 4 beneath the line. Indicating a ratio of 4.1 or 4.4 to one. The entire "pumpkin" from 1940 through 1955 will interchange. A lot of work, but worth the time. I just did this with my '50 Special. By 1955, ratios of 3.36/1 , maybe faster, were available. I used a 3.36/1 from a '55 for mine. Dropped the crusing 3rd gear rpm about 650 rpm. Fantastic! Ben
  11. Ok, guys, I have two '50s. Neither one has a bolt or stud at this location. Only a short 1/2 inch guide "nub". Same with the back of the manifold. The Super looks to have never had the manifold removed as there are no manifold to head gaskets, as per the shop manual. Therefore I believe there is supposed to be no bolt or stud in this position. Ben
  12. I agree with 58Mustang. I sold this kind kind of flaps in the '50s from service stations. Had a set on my '40 Buick. Neat. Ben
  13. Cobalt, I have never needed to, but I have heard of adding weight, i.e. sand bags to the frame in instances such as this. Don't believe I would try without some weight to replace the engine wt. Ben
  14. If the engine is still in the car, no spring compressor is needed. Place your FLOOR jack underneath the outer end of the bottom "a" frame, jack enough to know for sure the weight is on the jack. Remove the bottom bushing on the spindle support. Slowly let the jack down. Job done. Ben
  15. I like that! Dreams should be Big! Ben
  16. I am using Chrome and am having no problems. Ben
  17. I will add my thoughts. I feel unworthy to call him friend, but do so any way. The first time I met him and the Landau, I was allowed, no, INVITED to sit BEHIND THE WHEEL!! And Lamar even snapped a picture of that event on my camera. Visiting again in Concord was iceing [sp] on the cake. I can only wish I had met him many years ago. Simply awesome. Ben
  18. As per Straight eights post, if your spark plug cover is still in place, it will be hidden underneath it. It comes out of the head. Ben
