kuhner
We are here in South-Eastern Ohio. I am asking for a friend of a friend who is building a street rod. Most likeley would be more interested in the PA foundry over the one out West. He is looking for someone who can do the lost wax type process. I believe they are inside door handles, for a '39 woody re-creation he is working on. Could you provide the contact info?Thank You greg
Bill Stoneberg
I have had good luck with scupltors as opposed to commercial foundries.Take a look at this link.http://www.artcastingjournal.com/foundries.htm
Friartuck
Lost wax process does seem to pick up good detail from the pattern. This vendor does lost wax and Chris Piazza is a "car guy". Restorer32
Sure, it's Cattail Foundry near Lancaster, PA. Being Amish they have no phone or computer access but they do of course do mail and UPS. I visit regularly and don't actually have their address. We provide a service where folks send us patterns or original parts. We modify the parts to allow for shrinkage and shepherd the parts thru the foundry for a modest mark up on our cost. Being Amish they are not very familiar with car parts so sometimes they don't understand what's critical on a part and what isn't. We can also do the machine work that is often needed to make a sand casting useable. If you post a pic I can likely tell you if they can cast the part from an original. They do cast iron, silicon bronze and aluminum. All their work is sand cast so don't expect the detail you would get from die casting or lost wax. They have done literally hundreds and hundreds of castings for us over the years.

They do great work at a good price.
Restorer32
Cool....they do have phones but not at the house or barn. They are down by the road. They will phone us and leave a message. Didn't realize they now have voice mail. Certainly makes things simpler.
Gary_Ash
Here's an alternate: C.A. Brown Co. in Cranston, RI. They do have telephones and email, and they will do small jobs. Ask for Steve. They do brass, aluminum , bronze, etc. Tel is 401-781-6076http://www.browncasting.com/I currently have a project being cast there from silicon bronze. They are making 25 small throttle arms for 1/4" diameter carburetor shafts. The parts are about 2.38" long with a 1/8" arm thickness. I drew the part on my 3D CAD system, had an acrylic master part made by stereolithography at Shapeways.com for $14. Brown Casting is making a silicone rubber mold (female) from my plastic part, then will make 25 or so wax replicas. These get mounted on a wax tree, dipped in a series of ceramic solutions, then baked to melt the wax out before the pour. The silicone rubber mold isn't too expensive, and parts are pretty cheap, so make a bunch and sell the others to your friends in order to recoup your investment. Anyone need a throttle arm for a Stromberg carb? I also have the links, made from two laser-cut .060" steel sheets, stamped and spot welded. Restorer32
Lost wax is definitely the way to go for small and intricate parts. Last parts we had lost wax cast were interior door handles for a '27 Kissel. Perfect detail. Cost was about $100 per handle without plating, using our original as the pattern. Joe in Canada
Try Mike Butters 905 372 6926 as he specialises in door handles and puts in a new lock tumbler if you do not have one. But he does cast any part you want as he is doing my seat adjuster right now. He did the inside screw on door and window handles for my 1930 Cadillac. edinmass
Before you cast any more Stromberg stuff, check out this website. He has boxes of the stuff, factory nos, used, and repro. www.piercepartsstore.com
