I'll be there, Karl.

Planning to arrive around noon on Friday, drop the trailer, then, spend the afternoon visiting Antietam Battlefield.

Folks, make note of what class you are in to make it easy to say hello.

(Last time I tried a 1:00 DF meeting in Class 5 (Motorscooters) few showed up.)

I will be in Class 25-D.

Peter, We will be in class 19A with the Pierce. I have no idea how the field is going to be set up so I don't know who is going to be in the "center" of things. If the judging is over by 1 pm. we can all try to find you in 25D for 1pm. A [color:\\"red\\"] pimento red [color:\\"black\\"] TR-6 should stand out in the row! See you there. Karl

Sounds like a plan, Karl...

I'll make sure I am there at 1:00 onward. (I have a propensity at Nationals to park the car & walk around all day.) Let's meet up...

Regards, Peter.

I will be attending my first ever AACA meet! I'll be in class 36B?..muscle car class with my 70 SS-454. Any tips on what to bring and what not to bring? Are there any registration papers to bring or do we recieve them at the gate? Have my extinguisher and my chair and hope to achieve my Jr. at the meet.

Just a couple of tips, bring your sense of humor and relax! Bring any documentation that you have, especially if there is anything "rare and unusual" about your car. Naturally, make sure your car is detailed appropriately. Your registration materials will be available at the meet. Have fun and good luck. You might want to review the judging manual which is available online for a better understanding of the judging process.

Hi Albert: Prepare for a great time. Sounds like you are ready to go. All the paperwork you need should be in your registration packet that you will pick up upon arrival. Last I heard was 500 to 600 cars registered. Its going to be a wonderful meet.

Hello Albert,

I went to my first AACA meet last year at Carlisle (in the rain)

and boy was I nervous. I compete in Class 27J which is quite large.

All my fears were unfounded. The AACA people and judges were great.

Not only did I come home with my First Junior Award after driving

175 miles there in the rain (no trailer), but I was nominated for

a "National Award". I received my Senior award at Hershey in October.

I will be at Hagerstown also.

Good luck and have a good time!

Dave, as Karl recently stated to me: "It is nice to put a keyboard to a face".

If it is OK with you folks, let's meet at 25-D from 1:00 onward.

Regards, Peter J.

25D it is indeed! I can't get away without a good look thru sports cars anyway, although I'll have my motorcycle in 5A. Judging should absolutely be finished by 1 or were not doing something right. See you there.

Sounds good, Terry...

I know we are breaking from the traditional Class 5 meeting area, however, to all of you DF'ers, it is always enjoyable, guaranteed, to meet the "DF Person" in person. Human nature paints a picture on the Forum and it is great to actually meet a familiar voice.

Albert,

If you've taken any awards at local shows and have trophies, leave them home. There is a strong chance that you will be near cars that have taken several national awards let alone local awards. It's not a written rule, but it is something that you just don't see. Rather than set all of the trophies out and look out of place....

Peter,

My dad and I will be there Thursday afternoon. On Thursday and on Friday we will be working on the car and getting it ready. If you get a chance, stop by. We'll be going for our first Preservation Award for the woodie and then on the Buffalo next month. If the weather is right tomorrow, we're probably going to paint the frame on the firetruck.

Another spring meet question..this being my first AACA meet I am not familiar with the time table for this show. I will be trailering down on Fri. My question is when do they open the gates for trailer parking?...Fri afternoon or Sat morning. Just want to plan ahead. ZIf I need topark at the hotel Iwill get there early to get a good spot..If I can park at the show on Fri. I would prefer that. Thanks

Trailer parking is at a premium. You had better be sure that your hotel/motel will allow the trailer. The $20.00 fee to cover parking at the AACA site is for all days and became necessary due to the inability to find free parking anywhere within 10 miles. If you did pay the fee, you can drop the trailer off on Friday as well.

Albert,

From experience, you should have no problems with parking in the morning or afternoon at the designated field next to the Show Field. Now, if you come at, say, 3:00 a.m., then you may have a problem.)

As Steve mentioned, anyone who plans on parking at their hotel/motel had better check in advance...this leads to a gripe, of which, I always have observed. (Believe me, I am not the only one...)

The host Region/Chapter of any National, or, AGNM, will state clearly in the meet brochure, "No Trailer Parking at XXX Hotel". Well, there are folks that ignore this completely, put orange cones, and/or, rope barriers behind the trailer's ramp door to be certain they have room to back the car off. Average: taking the tow vehicle (17'), trailer (24'), ramp door "down" (8'), and, another 20 feet to back the car off, (average of 69 feet parked counter to pavement parking lines) the question of where to park your "single car/truck" makes all parking at meet hotels a premium. I have witnessed anywhere from 12-30 that do this. These rude folks eliminate about 14 "single" vehicle parking slots "per rig" at every meet.

This does not include hotel guests that have nothing to do with the AACA Meet. Simply staying there while on a trip.

This post does not mean a hill of beans, as there will always be rude people out there. Bottom line, I would be more concerned about where to park your tow vehicle over the trailer.

If any of the Moderators desires to blow my post away, do so by all means for detracting from the subject. I thought it a good time to let loose with a long standing gripe as I have played by the Meet rules, only, to come back from the trailer parking area to find I must struggle to find a parking slot...)

Peter...no hotel parking for me, except for my truck!. Ipaid to park at the show and thats where my trailer will be. I too dislike when guys park at the hotel. I'll come back from the show to clean up and there are trailers and trucks everywhere and np parking for me...it Sucks. My freind Bill and I are trailering in probably about 2-3 PM on Fri...dropping off the trailers and then getting some dinner. Se everyone on Sat.

Gee thanks for reminding me. I won't be able to go even though I live 90 miles away. Work keeps getting in the way. Four years, two months and one day until retirement. I sure am tired of being on call and never knowing when I will be going to work. I would like to take the Stanley on its first outing.

Cindy and I will be there with our 74 Monte Carlo. I'm looking forward to seeing you again Peter. We are leaving early in the am on Friday. We want to be there in plenty of time for the judging school and CJE.

Howdy, Wayne...sorry, too, you cannot make it, but, as I noted, there will be other meets.

Albert...look forward to meeting you and Bill. I plan to arrive around 1:30. Hopefully, you guys can take a few minutes on Saturday for the DF meeting.

Jim...nice to hear from you again, bud. As I mentioned to Wayne, we'll meet up somewhere. (I'm 56 years old and if I had a choice, I'd do exactly what you are doing!!)

John and Cindy...GREAT!!
