I don't know whether the price is realistic,

but that is a beautiful car.  DeSotos of 1955 and 1956

have excellent styling, and the color combination of

this car is very good.  I wish it were more affordably priced.

If someone was looking for a car in such a price range, this

truly rare car would definitely be one to consider.  I wonder

whether the factory manual transmission would appeal to buyers.

Thanks again, Fin Seeker, for your excellent finds!

Not sure about this car, but Hagerty values a #3 Good condition car at $50,200:

And just how does someone keep a car in this condition for almost 70 years if not in his climate controlled living room with a fence around it and with weekly maid service?

Certainly not in a barn.

It truly is a beautiful car. I love the colors. Are you guys surprised that it does not have a leather interior? More importantly, isn't that a bit of wear on both the brake and clutch pedals for 21,000 miles?

This is because 55-56 DeSotos all used an automatic transmission control on the dash. (Lever in 55, buttons in 56) so Chrysler had to reach back to 1954 to get a steering column (and wheel) that would support a column shift.

No. Not in the lower Mopars.
In fact Mopar convertibles in this era and price class used a “cloth” and vinyl combination instead of the all vinyl used by the competition.

Not a cotton fabric but synthetic weaving that made the seats cooler in summer and warmer in the winter.
A gutsy thing to do when quality is on the line.

Unless the guy was wearing his spiked logging boots it sure is. Especially the brake pedal.
