Pete Phillips
Can anyone help me identify the year of this spring-loaded hood ornament? Fairly late model, and will be for sale cheap as soon as I can identify the year.
NTX5467
Not very "Late Model" as there hasn't been a Buick with a flat but angled header panel in use for quite a while. I'm thinking mid-1980s or so, probably more like later 1970s, which is late model to some, I guess. Just a suspicion, NTX5467

Just a suspicion, NTX5467 For some those would be late model Willis. 😚 but i am thinking Regal, between 73 and 78. My 78 Estate Wagon had a similar looking extension and emblem except the base of the emblem was hexagonal as opposed to this one being circular, and the edge of the trishield circle was knurled as opposed to this one being smooth. JohnD1956
I shoukd add full sized models from 1980 to 1989 as that is when the architecture of the header panel was changed from the more squared version from 77 to 79.

When we were at the General Membership meeting in Kokomo, after the proposal for the Driven Class, one older member made some comments about that class not being open to "modern cars" (with power steering. a/c, etc.). At the time, I considered that a bit amusing, but accurate given his obvious orientation. Enjoy! NTX5467
Barney Eaton
Sometime after 1967 when the government implemented the car safety rules ..seat belts, no sharp knobs, collapsible steering columns, no wheel spinners and no stand up hood ornaments. 76CX39
This looks like a mid 80s ('84-'86) Century hood ornament

dship
Plus, the spring-loaded emblem kept folks from ripping them off the car hood. I'm thinking it's a '90's emblem.
FireballV8
Hi Pete It looks like a 1985 Century Hood Ornament. The late 1970's and early 80's had the deer head and the coat of arms on the tri shields. Please let me know how much you would want for it, I don't have one of those in my tri shield display collection. Thanks Steve
Nailbitten
Hood ornament is from a 1970 Buick. One the same was used on the 1990 Regal except the chrome mounting base is WAY shorter and a little thicker maybe. Edited February 25, 2023 by Nailbitten No,I think i am wrong about the 1970 (see edit history)
Frank DuVal
Get the magnifying glass out and read the numbers inside. I've rarely seen a cast GM part without a part or casting number.
