For Sale: on BAT auction: 1927 Pierce-Arrow Series 80 Rumble-Seat Roadster - Carson City, Nevada

Recommended Posts

I can't speak to the correctness of this color scheme,

but cars of the 1920's were often available in a wider color

selection than forum members must think.  Sometimes,

manufacturers would paint them in a customer's school

colors.  And there are plenty of examples in old catalogues

of unusual color schemes.

Not all cars were black, maroon, or navy blue.

I posted this a few days ago down in the Pierce arrow section. Thanks for posting it here, it will get a lot more visibility.

let me see if it sells and what the hammer price is. Then I’ll tell you whether or not I like the color.

at 20k.......the color looks fabulous......

What my mother said applies............if you can't say something nice........

It's possible it could be a fun car, but my Pierce Arrow eyes give me pause on this car unless the number is low......like in the submarine service. Just add time and money; time & money; and finally lots more time & money.

From any practical standpoint, metallic colors were not used on automobiles before the very early 1930s. And even then, only on a very few cars. So I can accept the red on the body, but that color on the fenders and etcetera is no way correct for this car.

Almost ten hours to go, the bid is currently just over 25K.

The upholstery to me looks like an over-stuffed imitation leather couch I saw sitting on a curb with a "FREE" sign on it. But that is just my opinion. (I didn't see any good pictures of the front upholstery?)

If it is mechanically sound? At that price it could still be worthwhile?
