bluwater101
I have a pair of very old large round headlights, my father bought when he was in high school. He is 74 now and they were old when he bought them. please see pictures. The glass on the lights are 11" the casing 12". I have no idea what they are off of and I'm having a hard time finding information. Does anyone recognize these or have any ideas? Thank you for any help. wayne sheldon
There is a name at the bottom of the lens? That will help to identify what they are likely off of. There were a number of common ones, like "TILTRAY". I can't make it out in the pictures, although I did zoom in. Looks like it might be "MONOGRAM"? Dave Henderson
To assist in the identification remove the rim and then the lens from it and look for a number on the rim of the glass for a clue. It appears to me they are from an early '30's car with cowl lights, since they have only one bulb socket. 28 Chrysler
I would say they are from a less expensive car 1930/31. Is there any name stamped on the top of the headlight bucket ? Lenses are one way to ID them, but not if they had been changed with ones that fit.
bluwater101
Thank you all for the responses, I'll take them apart and see what I can find. I apologize for not getting back sooner. I thought I got emails sent when someone responds, and since I never got an email I thought I had no responses. Now that I know I'll be checking back more frequently. It does say MonoGram on bottom of lens.
bluwater101
I took it apart and snapped a few pictures. I didn't see any numbers or names other than on the bulb. Here are the pictures. Thanks again for the help.

If you haven't checked already check around the edge of the glass behind the chrome trim ring. On the flat side along the edges you will often find more information. Graham Man
Printing on the edge of the lens should look something like this... sometimes you have to look at the reflection to read them 12 inch a good size car, my wild guess is 1928 Stutz... shape is correct, the lens numbers will tell
bluwater101
Cool Yes I have stuff on the lens. I was looking on the metal. Here are some pictures of the lens.
intimeold
I don't know what they were on; but they look pretty good.
3macboys
While trying to come up with an ID I stumbled across this thread from 2012: What are the odds that these are the same lights still waiting to be ID'd?
edinmass
Sure look like 1929-1930. Painted shells often indicate truck.....especially in that size. Overall nice condition, not huge value..........if you ask, I will give my opinion to an asking price.
bluwater101
My light lens says same thing I just checked. The lens is clean and clear.

drwatson
Here's more ID data from a Lens catalog I have: 1930 Auburn, & or '30 Henney The 11 1/2 x 10 27/32" spec. agrees with what's embossed on your Monogram Lenses. 11 1/2" = outside diameter, 10 27/32" prism diam. diam. 28 Chrysler
Your lights seem to match the Henney. Henney made professional cars starting in the 1920s. The "B" pillars (between the doors) on the passenger side was often removable to allow for stretchers or caskets to be loaded from the side. The 12" TWILITE lens were used on Franklins and Marmon's among others.
