Pebble Beach - Monterey Car Week 2021

Here's a photo of one of the Pebble Beach Best of Show finalists, the 1937 Bugatti Type 57S, taken the day before the Tour d'Elegance, "in the wild."  I was walking on Asilomar Ave., a residential street near the seashore in Pacific Grove, heard an unusual engine sound, and was able to get this shot of the car, likely on a test drive before the Tour.

My Monterey Car Week experience this year was at more plebeian events (Classic Motorsports Cruise-In, the Little Car Show, Rotary Rally, etc.) that bring in lots of interesting sub-classic, sub-exotic cars, mostly from Northern California.  Still had a blast!  We were driving a Volvo 1800E, not only in the Monterey area, but for the 400 mile roundtrip from home.  Maybe next year the non-Pebble Beach events can have their own thread here.  785729979_IMG_85522.jpeg.58e7c4e793ba2354427de3be8bc6d22e.jpeg

Ed,

We have been talking a lot about the 1930 Pierce I just bought.

What I am trying to figure out is which one is you in all of these pictures

I'd like to put a face to the voice.

Joe

DSCF5874.JPG.a45e5621b4090de9dbd08768eb1201bc.JPGShots from early Sunday and the shuttle bus that took us to the field and back again when we left for the day. Turn right at the take a part for the week Mercedes Benz building. We got there early and the first lot was not filled. When it is full you drive out to 17 mile Drive and park on the ocean side and the busses collect you there.

Bob,  when we do our "how to" thread next year you need to tell us how the parking & shuttle works for the regular guys.

I was trying to give advice to friends and I had no idea how to do it.

I have no clue how the shuttle functions............but it would be good general knowledge just for getting around on show day.........

Sure, but first a Thank You is in order to the entire staff and all the workers that make Pebble Beach happen. On Sunday just drive to the right of the Mercedes Benz portable building, the lots next to it are for reservations only, no big deal, just keep driving. If all the lots are full then continue on until you can park on the coast line. The bus will make the same loop all day and pickup and deliver people.
