1926-28 Buick wheels

21" is 1926 to 1928 Buick.  Master rims are 1/2" wider than Standard rims.  If I were a betting man, they are likely Standard rims and someone has installed Model A tires on them because they would be plentiful and cheap.  They could be Master rims as well though.  Measure the width of the demountable rim.  The 4" Standard Rim is actually 3 7/8" and the 4 1/2" Master rim is 4 3/8".    Hugh

You cant use standard wheels on a master axle. The hubs at wrong size.

So the wheel bearing is different also? Because I know the rim is 1/2” different along with the spokes, but I would just use the entire assembly temporarily, but seems that idea is a bust too.

Comparing Master and Standard front wheel bearing races illustrates the difference in spindle  diameters.

Master inner/outer diameters: .93/1.43

Standard inner/outer diameters: .812/1.275

You could remove a complete spoke and make a duplicate from hardwood to use for moving the car.  If the long term goal is to drive the car, then take it to a wheelwright and get it respoked.

Rears on Standard is a regular axle with a hub splined to the axle and a roller bearing. Master is a full floating with a ball bearing in the wheel hub and no load on the axle. The hub is  larger and the spokes shorter.

Vin is at Hershey.  He sent me these photos of the rear section of a 1925 Buick model 45 rear tub that he has for sale.  $400 Nice details on how it was originally upholstered.  Not sure what the top assembly behind it came from.  Also noticing that curvature of the body line along the armrest is almost a straight line, which would indicate maybe not 1925.

I think it is the angle of the shot.  Larry has verified that it is a 1925 -45.  It still has the original Cobalt Blue.  The carpet remnants on the floor would indicate a model 45, as the Standard Touring does not have those high sections in the floor.  Of note also is the use of vinyl on the rear seat arm rests.  Leather on the seat back and bottom.  Leif pointed that out to me, and it is interesting to see that they did the covering on both models 25 and 45 in this manner.

Hugh:

Vin took these photos after I polished the section around the top pivot bolt. That looked to be the place where the paint was in the best cond. The cobalt Blue showed up quite well as did the original striping.

I checked the black top on the ground and the front bow was not like the way our tops are made with the upholstered visor and the clamps were different
