1927 finer 70 roadster parking light

Recommended Posts

I'm not sure whether a 1927 finer 70 came with a side parking light?

The light I'm referring to is the side light that sit on the front of the rear 1/4 panel just before the door.

I know that they were fitted to 1926 G70  roadster, but I'm not sure if they continue on the finer 70.

Any information would be helpful!

Thanks in advance!

Those were mandated by local laws for on street parking, at least here in the states.

Also in some cities in Germany.  The light had to be on the side of the car, not on the front or rear.  I assumed it was due to very narrow streets that were laid out long before cars and parking them came about?

George Damanns book "70 years of Chrysler" shows 2 pictures of 70 series roadsters, the one has the boxed color insert on the door and has no parking light, the other picture shows a body with a single belt line molding and a side parking light.

The pre 34 Chrysler parts list, shows the G series (70) roadsters and touring cars had parking lights. By 1928 a lot of the Chrysler"s no longer had these parking lights, so I think it would be fair to assume that the Finer 70's may have come from the factory either with, or without these parking lights.

Thanks for all the information,  it was very interesting.  There is no sign of a side park light ever being fitted to my car, just the headlight park globe. It appears that the early cars had them,  but the later you had a choice whether o fit them or not if required.

Aunty norm is asking about the parking lamps made by Tiffany that were on the side of the car, the ones that had the red jewel facing rear and white jewel facing forwards. Interesting info on the cowl lights though.

From what I understand there were two types from Tiffany a 2 and a 3 jewel facing model, the two jewel type was normally mounted on the fenders and the 3 jewelled was mounted on the body and the 3rd jewel shone a light onto the running board, if you zoom in on my Roadster you will see the light just behind the door, the photo of the tourer has the light mounted in-between the front and back doors, the 3 jewels model was green and red for front and back and a clear for the 3rd jewel to shine a foot light.

I'm located in north of Melbourne, Australia.

My car is work in progess,   Have most of the body parts are ready to bolt on. But I'm always chasing minor parts like top iron support brackets that are need before the final assembly.  I'm still working on the wood work also fitting panels and doors to check gaps and alignment.

Looking good, well done on your restoration so far.

Looking at your photo's, with the double bead across the doors, I would say this car most likely never had the Tiffany parking lights. If it was my car I would not fit the side parking lights. Keep the car original, as it came from the factory

Hello,  I saw your  post and thought you might be looking for a set of Chrysler  cowl lights.  Look the attached photo's over.  I have another similar set if these are not what your looking for.  Thanks Don

Hi aunty norm, try these guys in Australia, they have plans for 100's of top frames and bows and they may have top iron supports that you need. Regards Viv.
