Download the 1942 Buick shop manual. All of it section by section. The pdf link does not work. It is very comprehensive and has information that can be used with all straight 8’s. It has more information than was included in older “Shop Manuals” before 1942-41 http://www.oldcarmanualproject.com/manuals/Buick/1942/Shop%20Manual/ The torque values are near the back Edited December 6, 2017 by 1939_Buick (see edit history)
Morgan Wright
You can only use a torque wrench on the bolts on the manifold side. Use a long handle box wrench on the distributor side, and guess the torque in foot pounds, unless of course the rockers are off then you can use a torque wrench. Daves1940Buick56S
Another option is a crowfoot wrench on the end of an extension. Use as short an extension as you can. Try to keep the angle of the crowfoot to the handle the same as you go along. A crowfoot will add about 5% to the dialed in torque value, depending on torque wrench handle length and angle of crowfoot to the handle of course. Jim Nelson
I have a broken temperature bulb. I remember that somewhere in the last month or so was an article on how and through whom i can get my bulb repaired.
Gary W
Bob's Speedometer repaired my temperature bulb. There is a gas of some sort in the tube so it has to be done by a qualified technician.
bobj49f2
Is the U joint the same for all models? An article in the Torque Tube stated you can use a Model A U joint for the 40 model. They're fairly easy to get.
