Cruising through our little town....1964 (I know....I have heard all of the stories about the 1964-65s as to whether it would be a 1964 or a 1965) Mustang fastback and a 1923 Ford T coupe....a friend owns the T coupe.

Actually all first year Mustangs are titled as 1965s. There are no Mustangs with titles that read 1964 or 1964.5. Enthusiasts have adopted the 1964-1/2 to identify the early cars from the later cars because there are alot of differences but to Ford and the DMV they are all 1965s. That red one in the photo could be a 1965 or 1966 and I would bet 1966 since they built alot more fastbacks in 1966. It was a late addition to the lineup in 1965. I like the stock hubcaps which you dont see much anymore these days. If you squint just right that photo could be from around 1969. Nice find.

There were no "'64 1/2" fastbacks, and as mentioned above, all Mustangs were titled as '65s anyway.  However, two of the main differences between what Mustang enthusiasts call a '64 1/2 and a '65 are the alternator-equipped charging system and some engine changes (no more 260, no more 170, etc.).  The fastback came out later in the model year, and they all had alternators.

At any rate, the car pictured above is a '65, having a '65 gas cap and '65 wheel covers.
