Pete Phillips
BEWARE!! I don't think it is a Century at all. He also calls it a series 40, which is a Special, and it has a single carburetor, which also makes it a Special. Pete Phillips, BCA #7338 Leonard, TX. Matt Harwood
Yes, it's a Special, no question about it. That's the joke.

NC-car-guy
This is probably a better buy... http://greenville.craigslist.org/cto/5762400186.html
Thriller
Amusing. Mind you, to give the benefit of the doubt, we do use some words (such as original) to have a slightly different context. Why anyone would need to rebuild a car with 3000 miles is beyond me, then put in a Pertronix and drive it 700 miles. In spite of the ad, to a local buyer, this may be a decent car.
Pete Phillips
"This is probably a better buy... http://greenville.craigslist.org/cto/5762400186.html " I agree. And that one is a fairly rare model, a model 47, not a model 41. Nice proportions, lightweight Chevrolet body with the Buick eight. One is for sale near me for about the same price, but not in as nice of condition as this one you've spotted. Very nice car. Pete
Joseph P. Indusi
Pete: How can you tell the Buick on Craig's list is a Model 47, presumably a Series 40A car? Joe
Beemon
What would cause the speedometer to break like that? Meddling perhaps?
A. Ballard 35R
Perhaps the mileage indicated is the second time around.
Thriller
The trunk shape - the 40B series four doors were the jet back styling - sort of a four door sedanette. Theres a a photo of a model 47 in the Standard catalog of Buick for the 1941 year.
Thomas J. Bianculli
Although detailed as a 1941, the engine in the Craigslist car is later. Note the bolt holes in the side of the block for the motor mounts, and the two boty holes for linkage in the intake manifold.
Morgan Wright
Original, sure...... but the engine is rebuilt and isn't the original engine anyway, and "restored" by definition is the opposite of original.
