John_S_in_Penna
This unusual car is NOT MINE, but I saw it on Craig's List and figured some Buick fan needs to have it. Wouldn't this excellent low-mileage 1977 Electra 6-door get a lot of attention at a Buick show, or with your friends on a Buick tour! It's distinctive and unusual enough to attract me, but unfortunately I can't own them all, or even close to them all. (Sigh!) http://lasvegas.craigslist.org/cto/5560568857.html "1977 Buick Electra Limousine - $4250 (Salt Lake City) 1977 Buick Electra 6 Door Limousine. John_S_in_Penna
I'd take the light bar off too. What a distinctive car for $4000! I wonder what company converted these. Does anyone know?
lancemb
That is very cool! Wouldn't fit in my garage though, do saved from the temptation! Man what a great family cruiser that would be...
JohnD1956
It does look to be in excellent condition. Lots of room for luggage etc. Wonder which engine/trans /rear axle it has. The wrong combo for a car of this weight can seriously impact drivability.
smithbrother
It is a small market, but that is/was probably factored in to the original price. There are a lot of FUNERAL homes around. I know Dad sold several funeral stretched cars in the 50's - 60', they came from the FLEXIBLE company. I like it, be careful not to CLIMB curbs when turning, hehe. My 142" wheel base Limited is bad enough. Price isn't bad, if you want such a piece, Dale in Indy

I know Dad sold several funeral stretched cars in the 50's - 60', they came from the FLEXIBLE company The funeral homes in my home town never had anything like this. One funeral home was owned by family friends who liked Buicks. However, their "people" car was always a regular 4-door Buick Electra, and their hearses were Buicks too. This 6-door was probably very expensive when new. I know that funeral homes always keep things spotless.
John_S_in_Penna
The Craig's List posting was deleted by its author, the link now tells us. Does this imply the car was sold? If so, I hope it found a good home. Limousines and the like don't have a big following with collectors, but this one was interesting and very reasonably priced. Matt Harwood
That middle door looks a little wonky, though. That's a tough body line to extend like that, so I sympathize with the designer, but it's like your eye trips over it as you're looking at the car. Basically they would have to have an agreement with Buick to buy the 2 extra doors, then lengthen the chassis and roof? Wow that's a lot of work for a small market car. Take a look at the middle doors. They're neither front nor rear doors. No cutout for the rear wheel and no slanted "A" pillar at the front. Probably custom made. RivNut
I just did a search on adhuntr.com (correct spelling) for Buick Limousines and found a couple of more 6 door cars. One very similar to this one but with no light bar, and a black Electras. White '77 Electra https://butte.craigslist.org/cto/5630480204.html Black 83 LeSabre http://littlerock.craigslist.org/cto/5574795190.html 1938 Resto mod http://phoenix.craigslist.org/evl/cto/5583954646.html

Ed, that first listing you found, in the Butte Craig's List, is almost assuredly the same car. Same year, model, color, and interior. They must have taken off the light-bar. So it's probably still available for some Buick fan's garage.
smithbrother
Post number 11, maybe the center panel ISN'T a door, but a fixed piece. You could then open the rear door and enter, and maybe the seat behind the driver is facing towards the back? Dale in Indy

Dale in Indy Dale, If in fact this is the same car as John S points out above (sans the light bar) then open this link and take a look at the individual pictures of the interior. You can tell by the shape of the seats and the surrounding items, steering wheel in one, rear wheel well arch in another, and just a plain door with a seat in the middle picture, that the middle door is operational. https://butte.craigslist.org/cto/5630480204.html Ed
smithbrother
I'm confused, hehe, you knew that,,,,. The car with the light bar is different than the one in post number 11, note the middle door has small vertical window at the back of the glass, the light bar car in the front? Can't call it a Limousine BUT it would have to be at the right price.... Imperial, the right price is already here. It's the price of a used Ford Escort. The car is such a seldom-seen sight in Buick circles that you'd meet a lot of new friends if you took it to a Buick show! I was going to say it's the same car as before, because the phone number in this ad is the same. However, this ad quotes a different mileage figure. Did the funeral home have more than one identical limousine in their fleet? Very possibly. Funeral homes often have matching cars, and matching colors. Maybe the car with the light bar was the lead car, and this one followed in the funeral procession. Here's the text of the Butte Craig's List ad: "1977 Buick Electra 6 Door Limousine. Recently out of funeral service with 38,700 ACTUAL MILES.Runs and drives well. Just driven more than 450 miles. Finished in glossy white paint with fullmatching vinyl top. From original funeral home which purchased it new in l977. Very clean. Areal eyecatcher. Will deliver. $4200. Dale in Indy The car in post 11 is also a different year and it has a black top. I have to agree the two cars with the white tops are the same car or twins from the same parlor. The CL ad from the car in post 1 has been taken down but the other ad is still up. ????????
