  1. An enclosed trailer does not have " wall depth " thick enough to benefit from spray in foam insulation. The exterior aluminum skin is thin & will deform easily. You cannot take home insulation methods & apply them to an enclosed trailer wall because an enclosed trailer wall is not an exterior residental home wall. If the OP wants to remove the interior wood panels - install rigid foam insulation - then re-install the wood sheeting ... Fine - but a waste of time & money. An enclosed trailer is designed for moving cars - not storing them in a climate controlled environment. You cannot economically control temperature & humidity in an enclosed car hauling trailer - they are not engineered for that purpose. Jim
  2. So, Are the taxes paid to date ? If so - someone must be paying them. Just because no one lives in a home does not mean it is abandoned. As mentioned previously - you need to find who owns the property. Jim
  3. That is a beauty ! It depends where you are selling it at. Where is the vehicle presently located ? JIm
  4. Mike, Because an enclosed trailer is not a storage building for cars. An enclosed trailer is intended & designed to transport vehicles. Summer or Winter. If you have a car you care about - if it needs long term storage - it should not be in an enclosed trailer. Jim
  5. Any used pump that had fuel ran thru it is a hazmat load - no exceptions. If you don't declare it to the shipper - there are dire consequences. The shipper is subject to heavy fines - hazmat load handling & shipping is usually cost prohibitive. You are sending this across an international border which is even worse. Jim
  6. SOLD for $549,000 USD ..... STUTZ AUCTION RESULT Jim
  7. Last activity was about a year ago ... Go Fund site has been set up on a Facebook page: Face Book Link Here Jim
  8. I have gotten many cars out of tight spots to load ... If you have a car with no brakes on an incline. Put a vehicle behind it with a matching bumper height - pad between bumpers - use the vehicle to ease it down far enough so you can get a vehicle in front & attach a tow strap to slowly back it down under controlled descent. Jim
  9. I think the price Tom is asking is fair given the condition & the documentation of the original mileage. As stated it was a farm truck sold by the family of the one owner to Tom. Jim

  13. So .... If State Farm or another home insurance company requested a home inspection as a condition of insuring you - if they told you to move the wood pile - would you do it ? Jim
  14. I did not read thru all the posts but .... A pile of wood next to a wood deck ( I assume your deck is wood ) that is part of your house is gasoline waiting for a match. You invited your insurance company on your property to do an inspection. AACA is not to blame for that - you are. Your insurance company told you to move the wood - you refused - they cancelled you. End of Story .... Why you would hold anyone else responsible other than yourself makes no sense whatsoever .... Jim
  15. This is Brian - he lives in Savannah, GA. Just an average nice guy ... I met him a few months ago when I dropped off his Model A Hot Rod project car I had picked up in Spokane, WA. He told me his story about the one that " got away " ... " Barn Finds " not only do exist - average guys sometimes get a once in a lifetime opportunity to buy one. In Brian's case - he could not come up with the money before Wayne Carini bought it ... If you watch " Chasing Classic Cars " you might have caught the episode on this vehicle. What was not told on the show - this Stutz was known about for at least (2) years before Wayne bought it. Brians' story is here on the HAMB: @ http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/lost-a-stutz-to-the-pros.973406/ The Stutz Bearcat is slated for a Bonham's Auction in August: @ http://www.bonhams.com/auctions/23425/lot/84/?category=list&length=10&page=9 Jim
  16. I was privileged to meet Mr. Krause many years ago in Iola, WI. I picked up a pair of military jeeps & a trailer he had sold. I arrived when his office opened - spent coffee time at the conference table with him & some co-workers. He showed me his latest project - cataloging state bank issued paper currency. Then we loaded - he insisted on helping. He gave me a copy of his autobiography. Then he was off to the local rest home where he kept a residence for his afternoon nap (he donated generously to having it built). I had time so I walked the small downtown of Iola. Everywhere I went - everyone had a story to tell about Chet and his kindness. I was touched. I bought him a gift certificate at a small restaurant he frequented - dropped it by his office on my way out of town. I read his autobiography on my way to California to drop off the jeeps & gave it to the new owner. What a full & generous life Mr. Krause lived .... 17. Probably all of us have used brake cleaner from a spray can. The difference between " chlorinated " & " non-chlorinated " can save your life. I usually buy chlorinated - you seem to get a little more. Never gave it much thought. Then I read this: @ http://www.brewracingframes.com/safety-alert-brake-cleaner--phosgene-gas.html Jim
  18. I think someone was drinking as suggested when they painted this .... I also think someone was drinking when they set the asking price .... Jim
  19. Sometimes ... I take a chance & everything turns out great .... I picked up a 1929 Model A 150 Woody wagon a few weeks ago from Job in Guilford, CT. He had been following me for years on one of the Ford Forums I belong to & decided when the time came to move cross country he would give me a call. When I pulled up to load out - the first thing Job's wife did was invite me to dinner. I loaded up the Woody & a Subaru wagon along with some vinyl green house framing which filled up the trailer. Then we sat down to dinner. Home made tacos that were just delicious ... I learned over dinner about the Woody's history. This Woody Wagon had significant family value. It had been in the family for over 45 years. 35 years with Job's sister - 10 plus years with Job. When he got it - the wagon body was severely rotted & covered over with plywood - the engine was full of water & the block had cracked. Job - bought a used engine & then spent years doing a frame off amateur restoration. About (5) years ago he had it running - then it quit. It had electrical issues. I thanked them & was off on the road. I had a Stanley Steamer engine to drop off near Philadelphia, PA at my good friend Louis Mandich who owns Last Chance Garage. The last few miles to Louie's place always give me peaceful contemplation about Life in general - I very much enjoy being able to see him. I got there early before he opened on a Monday morning. I unloaded the engine - Lou arrived - I had a thought. I asked Lou to look at the Model A Woody to see if he could figure out why it did not run ... Fred - one of his crackerjack mechanics - spent some time while I was there. The news was not good - all the wiring needed to be straightened out - it was a " Fuster Cluck ". So - I made the call to get it running. It seemed the right thing to do. Well .... It cost more than Lou & I both thought but when I arrived yesterday in Hadlock, WA it was running like a Swiss Watch .... Kris was there to meet me - Job's son. And I was treated to another family dinner courtesy of Kris & his lovely wife. Job was both ecstatic & grateful about my gift to the family in getting the car running. He could not believe someone would do something so generous. But - going thru Life it is appropriate to " Give Back " on occasion. Well - back to driving .... Jim
  20. I would call AAA for a tow for both ...... Jim
  21. Last Chance Garage in Unionville, PA just outside Philadelphia ... Louis " Louie " Mandich does quality restorations at affordable prices. An AACA Member for many years and an award winner .... http://lastchancegarage.net/ Jim
  22. Hire an experienced local professional with an enclosed trailer. Spend a relative small. amount of money - save a relatively large amount of potential damage. Jim
  23. This is a case where it appears a civil lawsuit is justified & necessary. The initial stop & investigative detention might be warranted, but the unlawful detention & subsequent arrest were unreasonable. Jim
