  1. I'm curious as to how you know that for sure. Is there some type of factory documentation?
  2. This ad was run here a while ago - apacap 4 Junior Member Members 4 28 posts · #1 Posted December 4 · Report post 1930 Cadillac V16 engine and chassis for sale or trade for Duesenberg parts. I have a complete 1930 Cadillac V16 engine and chassis for sale or trade for complete Model J Duesenberg rear axle assembly. This is an excellent condition chassis that has been in storage since the 50's and has original paint on the chassis. The engine has never been removed from the chassis and is complete with carbs, manifold and all the goodies. Has cowl, hood and complete grill and shell that are excellent. Rolling on the original wire wheels in great shape. Perfect candidate for a roadster build. Call Allen at 217 778 1425 for more info and photos. Looking to purchase J Dusie rear axle unit, have other J parts for sale or trade as well. Somewhere there is an axle laying in a garage that will never be used, why not sell it or trade for a fabulous piece of history. Hope to hear from you!!! Granted it's a 1930, but I would think it's a helluvalot better than a 350 Chevy. I think I'd even install a Caddy V8 from that era before a 350.
  3. capngrog & 1937hd45 , OK. Now I/we know the rest of the story. If the situation was as you describe, then I agree with you.
  4. Wasn't there a Stutz that was alleged to have been bought out from under someone? I read that someone was dealing/negotiating with the owner & someone else got wind of it, swooped in & bought it. That's not nice.
  5. Amen brother. I wonder if there are any of those on this site? They are what spoiled the hobby & turned it into an opportunity for "investment portfolios". I watched one episode of CCC that showed state inspectors coming to a show/auction & questioning VIN's on 1 or more cars because the numbers weren't right according to the inspectors. The host poo-pooed the inspectors as though they didn't know their butt from a hole in the ground. I believe what it amounted to was if the car(s) were sold with the numbers as they were, it would be illegal. Of course, he knows better than the state inspectors. After all he's a flipper & the host of his own show.
  6. Fantomworks seems to be "real" & I like the fact that they go over the cost of the repairs or restoration at the end of the show. The Mopar guy, Mark Worman, I appreciate his knowledge, but I can't stand the goofing around & for sure I'd fire 1 or 2 of the clowns working for him. I can't stand the fake engine revving on What's My Car Worth? & the 2 "experts" are right about half the time. Chasing Classic Cars would be better for me if there was some kind of clue as to what was paid for the cars he finds & more details about how he found the cars. But that probably would expose his secrets/contacts more than he'd want to. I don't waste my time on Unique or Bitchin' rides.
  7. I posted this a while back - "Can you ID this Riley?" The car is paid for, I just received the title, & I have enclosed shipping arranged. The seller didn't mention anything about the title, so I was surprised & excited when I got it. It's an original N. Carolina title from 1953. The car is a '51, so seller's dad must have bought it in 1953. Car has been stored inside since then. Motor number matches the serial number according to the title. This car may be all original & I'm anxious to have it delivered so I can check it out for myself. May be a "blind pig" case.

  9. I bought it! Thanks for the help with year ID and for the advice. I asked about value & didn't get much response. I can tell you that he wanted $7500, all the parts are there, & it has a title. Does that sound reasonable?
  10. Since this is a roadster & condition of the top is unknown, I'd want it indoors for storage & enclosed trailer for transport.
  11. Aestorrs, Country, & Trulyvintage, The seller will make the car ready for shipping (tires aired up, rolls, & steers. He also has contacts in the local towing area so it shouldn't be an issue getting it someplace to load to a trailer. Stupid question here - will towing companies store cars indoors until they are picked up, if they have the space? Trulyvintage, does your trailer have a winch? Will you haul from New Bern, NC to Mpls, MN?
  12. Car is a Riley in Raleigh either going to Elkhart, IN or coming to Twin Cities, MN. The help I'm asking for would make the car movable although still in-op. Being movable should be enough to winch it into an enclosed trailer pulled by a pickup or other truck. I wouldn't want it hauled in the open and/or on a big rig. Whoever I contract with to haul it, I would expect it becomes their job to get it out & loaded. Only exception I could see is if it were a friend, relative, or perhaps someone from this group that was hauling it. Then I would put extra effort into having it ready for loading, like hiring a flatbed to assist. Of course, all of the loading & hauling details will be discussed & written out prior to any hauling and/or payment.
  13. I bought some of the above parts. They were as described & I wouldn't hesitate to buy from Roy again. Thank you for your accurate descriptions & honesty. George
  14. Thanks for the editing & replies. I could also use contact info for someone to pick up & haul the car in an enclosed trailer. The car will of course, have to be winched into the trailer. Nice Barracuda BTW.
  15. Anyone in the Raleigh, NC area that can help? I'm buying a car that sat for many years so it's in-op. I need the tires checked to make sure they hold air, make sure trans/clutch/etc. can be put in neutral to roll it, & brakes aren't locked up. I am willing to pay something for your time. Some parts have been removed from the car; possibly check to see if it looks like everything is there also.
  16. Are they a desirable car? Would anyone care to make an attempt at putting a value on it as seen in the photos. Engine does not run. Car has been sitting for many years.
  17. I would like to know what year & thanks in advance for any help.
  18. What are the blue & red ribbons across the tops of windshields on some cars? Awards?
  19. With the tach on the dash & the cross flags on the fender, that should be a 300HP 327 car if it's the original drivetrain. I can't quite make out what is above the cross flags. May be an original "V" for the 283 & the crossflags were added under it. The Chevelle hood louvers are an interesting add on.
  20. I think they are spectacularly unique. I know of a '61 Plymouth Fury convert that is NFS as of now. I'd be leery of buying any of these that needed body panel replacement. I doubt there are reproduction panels available.
  21. Not mine. Someone here may want it. http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/dak/cto/5853679450.html (612) 242-9476 1907 MAXWELL MODEL AB. 127 CI 10 HP ENGINE. CAR IS FAIRLY COMPLETE. IT WAS RUNNING AND DRIVING 6 YEARS AGO THEN DUE TO A DEATH IN THE FAMILY IT WAS PUT INTO A VERY WET STORAGE UNIT. THE ENGINE IS STUCK AND THE MOISTURE HAS DONE DAMAGE. 22. Not mine. http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/csw/cto/5816223268.html (507) 250-4855 1948 Lincoln Convertible Coupe This is an older restoration on a rare car than has not seen much road time since. It has the original v-12 with air cleaner and 3speed manual trans including 2 speed rear end. The engine has not been run for several years. It was rebuilt at time of restoration and have the paperwork for it. It does turn over and cylinders have been lubricated. We have a new fuel pump to install. It also needs to have one if not both of the water pumps rebuilt, it has one that is seized. This car could be a great driver with a little TLC or even warrant a full redo. Feel free to contact me for more information. I am listing this for my parents. We are asking 18,500 or best offer
