  1. The 86-93 opera lights have two plastic mounting studs on each. The stud length is longer for those mounted on a vinyl roof capped Riviera. In your case where you have no vinyl cap, I'm assuming it should not matter which one you acquire.
  2. I've used this method to remove all kind's of stuff with great success.
  3. I too agree with John...you should document your trip. I, for one, totally enjoyed your thread. As I mentioned previously, it brings back fond memories from the early/mid fifties when my family would travel across by automobile. THANKS
  4. Wow Marck, that's an unbelievable journey....7,512 miles!! Hope you took a bunch of pic's to load up on the forum. Reatta run OK?? No problems to report??
  5. John, Fantastic pictures...keep 'em coming! Man, this has got to be an "at least once in a lifetime" adventure for you. And, I bet its got to be one of the biggest check marks on your bucket list. Brings back a flood of memories for me...During the early to mid fifties, dad drove our family from San Diego, CA to Weymouth, MA before there was any route 70, 80, or 90 highways (he was being transferred from the US Navy Pacific fleet to the Atlantic fleet). Then, throughout the late fifties we would travel by car from MA to CO. Springs to visit his parents every two years.
  6. As a member of the Gopher State Chapter (in addition to being a Minuteman Chapter member), I received this quote from Paul's sister Kris today: "My brother Paul had a stroke on Wednesday. He is recovering in the hospital and progressing, but obviously prayers are well wishes are appreciated for him and Donna on a speedy and thorough recovery." Wishing you a speedy and full recovery, Paul...
  7. They are bolt covers for inside the trunk and were used both on Reatta's and Riviera's of the same era. Edit: Daniel and I responded at the same time...

    FIRST CLASS

Riviera is home from CO. Springs and at a local tranny shop near me. Fried tranny...has 157,000 miles on it. Have rec'd lots of good recommendations from car buddies/couple of mechanic friends re: the tranny shop. Looks like a total re-build is in order...est $1800. Expect to get it back mid-next week.

    FIRST CLASS

Welcome to the ROA family!! Now, aren't you just kickin' your butt for selling your black beauty 7th gen Rivi?
  10. Lamar...I saw/read your "what's happening on the forum" article in the Bugle. Great idea and it will shirley gain interest by BCA folks who rely solely on the BCA magazine and/or the BCA online site exclusively (and I'm not calling you Shirley!).
  11. Barney, I don't have a picture of a 91 Reatta/Riviera front ABS sensor, but take a look at Ronnie's #7 picture. You see that the sensor end looks like a silver/chrome canister. That one would be for the 88-90. The 91 canister looks like black Bakelite and has a metal nipple in the center protruding out about a quarter inch. Hope this helps any.
  12. John...Hauling home and fixing the Riv depleted travel funds I had saved for 2014 BCA meets...but there's always next year. Ed...Riv arrived a 9:30am (EDT) today (Sunday)...she's wicked dirty but now safe on my property. Tranny fix takes place week after next.
  13. With my 92 Riv having a fried tranny, I have "failure to launch"!
  14. I totally concur with Marck. The 91 Riviera and 91 Reatta front ABS sensors are a one-year-only design. They are not physically the same as previous years, and the 92/93 Riviera front sensors are built into the hub. I've mentioned this a number of times in other threads.
  15. Wonder if it has a working tranny. As some of you now know, I lost the tranny on my 92 Riv 155 miles east of the ROA meet at the Marriott Colorado Springs. Got it towed to the hotel and then home in MA from there....$1500 towing and whatever additional $$ to fix tranny. Turned out will be an expensive ROA meet for me. So unfortunately, I will now not be able to attend the Heartland Regional as previously planned.
  16. Just like my two sons and my granddaughter, they know they have a built-in family mechanic!
  17. Brian, If the cooler is about 4" X about 14" with strong steel fins, its the PS cooler. I've seen tranny coolers that mirror the ones on the 7th generation Riviera's installed on Reatta's by DIY'ers. Actually, I bought a Riviera tranny cooler with lines that I plan installing on my 91 Reatta. I just feel its wise to add them whenever its a practical bolt-on.
  18. The CO Springs trip will encompass 15 days. If I don't head home first to do laundry before heading in your direction, you'd have to stay up-wind of me I'm sure...!!
  19. I'm on board, also...Heartland Regional registration #17.
  20. Paul...it's scheduled for 10:30am on Wednesday the 25th.
  21. I especially thank Service family I've lost: my dad US Navy Sr Chief Gunners Mate 1936-1966 Pearl Harbor survivor, two tours Pacific/one tour Atlantic WWII, two tours Korea, Drill Instructor 1955-1957 (b1917-d1981); my uncle US Army PVC KIA Belgium 1944 (b1919-d1944); my brother US Army Corp of Engineers SP5 1969-1973 two tours Vietnam (b1950-d2006).
  22. Kris, Wow!! Seeing the pics of the damage is just plain heart breaking... Out of curiosity, what cars got totaled? Did the '62 survive? (Will be heading your way in August for the Regional)
  23. I've owned two 8th generation and two 7th generation Riviera's (still have/will keep one 7th). Sad to say no 1st or 2nd, but maybe someday. Forgot to add I once owned a 6th generation Riv, also.
