  2. Our local Chapter of Louisiana Region AACA did a weekend in Hattiesburg, Mississippi several years ago. The big attraction was the Drive-In Movie Theater. Sound was broadcast via FM Radio. It was a very different experience since those from down here showed up with LAWN CHAIRS and COOLERS filled with ADULT BEVERAGES IN POP-TOP CANS. When we went to the Drive-In back in New Jersey back in the 1950s and 1960s, we stayed in our cars and fogged up the windows. PS: That weekend the prize for the most fogged windows went to our triple-black 1970 Cadillac convertible.
  3. Yes, I know the feeling. I almost didn't buy this one because of the asking price, and because there was absolutely no room in the '88 Corvette convertible we drove from home to Wisconsin and Illinois for this week-long tour. Along with the (expensive) three porcelain pieces my wife bought, I figured that another tour attendee could get them home and meet me later, maybe at Hershey. Fortunately, when we packed for the trip home we were able to protect the delicate pieces within soft clothing items, but my wife's side of the 'Vette was very cramped and did not give her the comfort she deserves for all the traveling we do in support of the hobby.
  4. The person who phoned my home - I could not understand your message or your phone number. Please call again.
  5. I think that the pin may be tapered, but forgot which end is the larger diameter.
  6. While on tour in Illinois and New Glarus, Wisconsin a couple of weeks ago, during lunch I played a Swiss Alphorn as if it were a jazz trumpet. Prior to lunch we visited an antiques shop and found a beer stein which was part of a Budweiser collection. Some of you likely are aware of this piece, but I hadn't noticed it before, and Dale said I had to have it, (along with a motorcycle jacket which will zip if I stop eating until August). The 1948 Buick Roadmaster convertible on the mug is made in a "Relief", so it actually stands out from the surface, and you can feel the shape of the hood, fenders, windshield, spotlight, grille, body lines, bumper, etc. While certainly not an "antique", mt wife just could not leave it on the shelf, and handed it to me so I could negotiate a price (together with the really good stuff she wanted - two Lladro porcelain statues, etc.).
  7. I find that 10% to 20% kerosine or diesel fuel helps to reduce vapor lock, as well !
  8. Mark's comment (above) is a reliable way to seek a vacuum leak.
  9. Finally - some photos: And a big "Thank-You" to Barry and Lindie Eash at B & L Enterprises of Windber, PA for their efforts toward getting the 1915 Hudson ready to drive the 1915 AACA VINTAGE TOUR to be held in the area of Lancaster, PA later this month.
  10. As for the radiator cap, Bob's Automobilia in California http://bobsautomobilia.com/shop/ is primarily for Buick parts, but they know Cadillac, and which pieces will solve the problems. My 1941 Cadillac had a typical radiator cap, and I did not know that one with a longer depth was needed until Bob was able to supply it. My car used to push out coolant because the system was essentially "open" rather than pressurized. Now, thanks to some careful examination, and parts from Bob, the problem is solved and the Caddy has run cross-country several times without running hot.
  11. Agreed -- Gould Rebuilders, while no longer in Arthur's hands personally, still does commendable work . They have done several water pumps and fuel pumps for me over the years, and I would use them again in a heartbeat !! This is the website: http://arthurgouldrebuilders.com/
  12. Agreed !! This has to be the coolest view of one of the Koolest Buick Dream Cars ever !! Did I see this one at the GM Motorama at the Waldorf Astoria in New York City in the fall of 1953?? Dad and Mom took us to the Motorama every year.
  13. Nice looking car, but stains on rear seat beak and side trim indicate either a "Flood Car" of some serious water leaks on both right and left
  14. Could it be that, as the heat increases, you might have a vacuum leak - possibly requiring more choke to minimize the effects of a vacuum leak to equalize the air/fuel mixture? I have had a similar concern with my Packard at some times, but it will miss badly until I choke it.

    idle

Not when you come to a stop, but when you first start the car, will it run at idle initially, and then only kill after a rolling stop? If this is the case then your problem is probably not the "IDLE JET". Check to see that when you reassembled the carb, that the "stop" for the "IDLE SCREW" is installed properly. I've seen these inverted and become useless.
  16. Sorry for the delay in responding to your additional question - we've been on the road, touring with another old car. To the best of my recollection, nothing more need be done, other than to disable the pump as previously noted. Good luck.
  17. As Matt said, "Yes, National AACA Meets are always open to the public.", and..... there is NO CHARGE FOR ADMISSION... free to come in and enjoy, and hopefully become an active part of this great hobby !!
  18. We expect to be at Louisville for the 80th AACA Anniversary, and will be showing the 1934 Buick for Repeat Preservation. She was awarded Senior Grand National when last shown.
  19. Take a look at my ad in this same category -- probably outside of your pricing target range, but your producer and director would likely be making a far better choice for the long range. Contact me either on this FORUM, or by email/PM (Private Message) by clicking on my name at the upper left. This car is a fantastic driver, and also has a significant history in cinema prior to being fully restored (Pretty Baby, Ray, etc.).
  20. Thanks Bob, There has been quite a bit of interest, but so far our 1934 Buick is still available. I expect to show it at the AACA 80th Anniversary Meet in Louisville for another Repeat Preservation, since it has already been awarded Senior Grand National status, as well as First and Repeat Preservation at prior AACA National Meets. If you know of anyone who would be a good conservator for this fine Buick, please feel free to share this link and my information. How is you progress on your Buick?
  21. Thank you for posting these pics -- wish I had been able to attend...
