  1. Sweet ... put your snow tires on and come pick me up!
  2. Looks like he was on last on Dec. 24 so he's still active here... your odds of catching up to him are pretty good.
  3. Exactly... I remember a tv show back in the 60's (no, it was NOT the Jetsons) that said we were all going to get personal jet packs to move around with in the 21st century. I still want my personal jet pack too!
  4. I would think anything thick enough to stop a leak would clog radiatior passages as well, not to mention it will be coating the inside of the engine block. Just fix the leak right the first time and you will be further ahead.
  5. Hope the new powertrain will be Mopar... running with fenders or without?
  6. Incredibly obvious, but has anyone checked out the air filter on this car? Oil bath or element? If it's oil bath it could be long overdue for a good cleaning, but I suspect at that year it should have an element. Due for a change? If the vacuum trick worked on the carb, it sounds like it either wasn't cleaned out very good during the rebuild, or you were still getting crud from the tank or lines after it was done. An extra element at the carb inlet might help. When you guys were doing the timing, did you check to make sure the advances were working properly? I know the consensus seems to be that it's an oil burner that needs rings etc, but if you put all the externals back on the next motor without checking them out, you could be bolting some of the old issues back onto the next motor.
  7. Oh I think we've all been there.... yea, honey, I was checking for seat placement....
  8. Nice ride! I'm all for the minimalist look, but you're gonna want a rad on there real soon! Sure beats sitting on a soft drink case and making engine noises though....
  9. Looks like you had a blast... thanks for the pics. Makes me wish I was there... especially for the hug!
  10. I don't believe he was referring to cheering when he was talking about Chrysler Rootes Australia... there's times when Australian really needs to be considered a separate language from English, or for that matter, North American slang for English.
  11. Geez Larry, I'm north of the border and we've just got ground cover the last 2 days... where you at? My neighbors pick up scrap iron and this year they have just been stock piling because of the low prices. They were getting around $240/tonne 2 yrs ago, but it's down around $100/tonne now. I keep an eye on the heap and trade off any scrap I have around the yard for something I can use. Too bad they have a nasty habit of picking things up with a hi-hoe though...
  12. Life happens... you're making more progress than I am... my 228 is still sitting in the corner on the homemade engine stand, and the Whippet chassis is still in the pasture. Hopefully I'll make some progress on my shop over the winter. We're in the process of freezing up and getting snow on the ground as I type...
  13. My best guess would be a poor attempt to copy a Dusenberg?
  14. Does this mean the speedster is going to get a Rolls Royce power train? Nice looking shop.
  15. When I was painting in the 70's it was quite common to see "approximate match" colors. Different plants would get supplied by different manufacturers or there would just be quality control issues within a given plant. GM had a code 36 red metallic with "issues". Some repaint systems could match original manufacturer colors better than others as well. I cursed Hondas on numerous occasions for having more than one color listed under one code... sort of defeated the purpose of having a code in the first place.
  16. We haven't heard any updates on this one for a while... any progress?
  17. Oh man, that purple interior turns my stomach! He probably spent more on the paint than that current $5k bid.
  18. Something like that would sell for $700 to $1200 at our local farm auctions.
  19. It looks great! Time to post a "cruising vid" for us slow builders to drool over!
  20. circa 1950 on the Canadian prairies... Altamont Mb.
  21. Cool....looks like you've got front row seats!
  22. Hope your wearing rubber gloves and a face mask doing that.... droppings can carry some nasty diseases. Nice find though... hope they didn't get into the interior. Odors can be very hard to get rid of.
  23. If you are good with metal the deck lid could be faked but that missing door is a major issue. The first owner thought it was worth $510 when he bought it, but unless you can find a door that works, even rodding it is a problem.
