  1. I just saw some -40 degree duct tape at Costco yesterday. It was $16.99 for 3 rolls.
  2. Should the spring be on the adjuster wheel?
  3. Packick, Make sure you get the correct springs for the bottom of the brake shoes. The green spring is the wrong spring as it will not let the self adjuster work. Should look I believe something like this Note the one end that goes up. It should go over the wheel for the self adjuster. I have seen a lot of brake jobs where persons have not put the correct spring or installed the correct spring upside down or backwards not allowing the self adjuster to work.
  4. I might have missed it, but can you take it to an Autozone or Napa store and have them check the generator?
  5. Do you know someone that does ceramics? That might work?
  6. I agree with the texting to the N-th degree causing all types of problems!!!!!!
  7. Henry Ford started to pay his employees the $5.00/ day wage because there was such great turn over of personnel that it was costing him money to be retraining new employees all of the time. The work in the auto factories at the time was very hard. In addition to slowing down turn over, it also allowed his employees to buy the product that they were building.
  8. I currently have a 98 astro with 230,000 miles, sold a Blazer with 256,000, 98 S-10 with 198,000, and others with the same type of service. Most important thing to do is change the oil every 3,000-5,000 max. Cheap insurance for worry free driving.
  9. There are 6 volt voltage regulators readily available. The quickest one that I know is to go to a NAPA store or buy one that will probably work from a Ford 8N tractor which is 6 volt.
  10. I wish I could experience both days of winter so I would have the 4 season experience.
  11. I believe that it is for wear improvement(less wear) and the longer oil changes.
  12. That tube that goes down the side of the engine is/was called a "road draft tube" and was the crankcase ventilation system before the PVC valve and plumbing.
  13. Is this what you are looking for? Not sure the size you have, but I have 4. It is dirty as I pulled it off the shelf in the garage.
  14. Maybe International Harvester for the high wheeler?
  15. That post belongs on the the other thread of things heard to describe cars for sale.
  16. One of the items that can cause a car to overheat besides the radiator is timing, fuel, and especially the rate of flow of coolant through the system. If the coolant moves too fast, then it does not have time to transfer the heat. Might check that.
  17. The text around the second picture is a quote from Alfred P. Sloan from the 20's. When he was setting up the marketing structure of GM with Chevrolet as the entry vehicle to Pontiac, Oldsmobile, Buick, and finally Cadillac as the most expensive, he made the marketing divisions go from low to high price so the consumer in the market place would have " a car for every purse and purpose" This worked until a particular bean counter started running GM in 1980 and changed the formula.
  18. I would vote for American Arrow. I have been to their shop and they do excellent work.
  19. Do you have anything for Buick trucks in the teens?
  20. If I was betting, I would put it as some sort of fire/civil defense emergency response vehicle.
